Charles E. Lebo

December 21, 1917 to September 14, 2010

 

WINAMAC - Charles Edward "Ed" Lebo Jr., 92, of 416 Northgate, Rochester, passed away at 10:08 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 14,at Miller's Merry Manor, Culver.

He was born Dec. 21, 1917, in Winamac, to Charles and Della Tunis Lebo. Ed married Eva Davis on Oct. 26, 1946 in Fort Wayne. She survives.

Mr. Lebo worked for the Aubbeenaubbee Schools, Culver Schools and at the Monterey Schools as a janitor. He also worked for McKinley Monuments in Winamac. He served in the U.S. Army in France and Germany during World War II.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m, Friday,  at Frain Mortuary, Winamac, and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Saturday (Sept. 18), at the First Christian Church, Winamac, with Pastor Rick Abbott officiating. Burial will be in McKinley Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Winamac. The VFW and American Legion will conduct military graveside services.

Memorial donations may be given to the Heart Fund.

James P. Clouse Jr.

August 29, 1953 to September 13, 2010

 

FRANCESVILLE - James P. Clouse Jr., 57, of 32 W. Center Street, Williamsport, formerly of Francesville, passed away at 1:57 p.m., Monday, Sept. 13, at his residence.

He was born Aug. 29, 1953, in Camp Lejune, NC, to James Paul and Lucille Lutes Clouse.

Mr. Clouse was a former resident of Francesville and was a graduate of West Central High School in 1971.
He was employed at Meridian Music in Indianapolis for many years. He won a national award from Yamaha Music for top sales in the country and received a trip to the Yamaha factory in Japan. His passion was playing the piano. He also played the keyboard and composed most of his own music. He played in many bands.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday,  at Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel, Francesville. The funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. (Thursday, Sept. 16), at the funeral home with Pastor James Ketchen officiating.

Memorial donations may be given to the American Heart Association.

Marjorie W. Fritz

August 17, 1918 to September 14, 2010

 

WINAMAC - Marjorie W. Fritz, 92, of 624 East 13th Street, Winamac, passed away at 12:50 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 14, in the Pulaski Health Care Center, Winamac.

She was born Aug. 17, 1918, in Royal Center, to William and Emma Brenneke Wolf. She married Dale C. Fritz on Oct. 12, 1941, in Royal Center. He died on Nov. 29, 1985.

Mrs. Fritz graduated from Royal Center High School and then graduated from the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Indianapolis in 1942. She lived in Winamac for 65 years. She was an active member of the Winamac commumity. Her memberships included the Winamac Home Economic Club, Order of Eastern Star #96, First Christian Church where she participated in the church choir and Christian Women's Fellowship, Delta Sigma Tau, and the Mother's Club. She helped staff Pulaski Memorial Hospital when it opened in the early 1960s.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Saturday, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m., Sunday (Sept. 19), at the funeral home with Pastor Rick Abbott officiating. Burial will be in McKinley Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Winamac.

Arnold V. Nelson

December 17, 1929 to September 11, 2010

 

WINAMAC - Arnold Victor "Arnie" Nelson, 80, of 801 East 75 North, Winamac (formerly of Griffith), died at 1:38 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 11,  at Clare Bridge of Valparaiso, Valparaiso.

He was born Dec. 17, 1929, in Crosby, ND, to the late Nels L. and Nancy Nelson. He married Marlene J. Bensch on June 28, 1957 in Nashua, MN. She survives.

Mr. Nelson was born in Crosby, N.D. and lived in Plentywood, Mont. during his childhood. In his early teens he moved to Minnesota where he graduated from Barrett High School. He served in the U.S. Army and upon discharge took a job at the Soo Line Railroad. His career then took him to Texas and Michigan to serve on the U.S. Border Patrol for over 10 years. 

He next career advancement moved his family to Indiana where he worked as officer-in-charge of the Immigration and Naturalization Department of Indiana. In 1983, after 30 years of service, he retired from the U.S. Department of Justice, Organized Crime and Racketeering Section. He was very active in the VFW Post #1728 in Winamac. He was member of the F.O.P in Hammond. He was a past president of the Izack Walton League in Griffith.

Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m., Thursday, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. The funeral service will be 15 11 a.m., Friday (Sept. 17), at the funeral home with Pastor Richard Beck officiating. Burial will be in McKinley Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Winamac.

Dale E. Christensen

November 28, 1936 to September 11, 2010

 

WINAMAC - Dale Elton Christensen, 73, of 902 S. Market Street, Winamac, died at 11:25 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 11,  at Memorial Hospital, South Bend.

He was born Nov. 28, 1936, in Chicago to the late Elton and Iris Reiss Christensen. He married Brenda G. Trace,  on Sept. 6, 1958 in Mount Vernon, Ohio. She survives.

Mr. Christensen moved to Winamac in 1980. He was also a former resident of Palatine, IL. He was a graduate of Bowling Green University. He served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army in the Infantry Chemical Corps. He was vice president at Kneip, Inc., a Chicago based meat packer. He served as a representative to the American Meat Institute. He also served as president of Winclair Petroleum in Winamac, and at B & D Oil in Rochester. He retired as the purchasing manager for Galbreath Inc. in Winamac. After retirement, he supervised the 2000 U.S. Census for the Indiana counties of Pulaski and Fulton. He also had worked for the Pulaski County Sheriff's Department. He was a former member of the Winamac Kiwanis Club.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., Wednesday, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. A memorial service will follow at 1 p.m., (Wednesday, Sept. 15), at the funeral home with Pastor Denny Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Geneva Cemetery, Geneva, IL.

Memorial donations may be given to the Pulaski County Public Library.

Alladene R. Archer

January 28, 1925 to September 11, 2010

 

MEDARYVILLE - Alladene R. Archer, 85, of 1674 North 1550 West, Medaryville, died at 11:40 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 11,  at her residence in Medaryville.

She was born Jan. 28, 1925, in Medaryville, to the late Marion and Milda Foust Poisel. She married Earl W. Archer on June 21, 1948 in Winamac. He died March 7, 2009.

Mrs. Archer was a member of the Medaryville Christian Church. She enjoyed crocheting and made lap blankets that she donated to area nursing homes and the Soldiers Home in Lafayette. She was an active and longtime volunteer at the Medaryville Senior Center.

Nancy L. Wallace

March 27, 1937 to September 10, 2010

 

WINAMAC - Nancy L. Wallace, 73, of 5165 N 180 E, Monterey, passed away at 3:47p.m., Friday, Sept. 10, in St. Mary's Medical Center, Duluth, MN.

She was born March 27, 1937, in Gary,  to the late Arlie and Thelma Buckler Campbell. She married Harold D. Wallace on March 23, 1957, in Hebron. He survives.

Mrs. Wallace had lived in Monterey since 1994 and had been visiting the area since 1958. She was formerly of Union Mills. She also enjoyed their summer home in Hayward, WI. She was a former member of the Nobel Township Vol. Fire Department Auxillary, Union Mills. She was a former top volunteer for the March of Dimes in 1972 for Lake County. She catered many weddings, senior citizen dinners and meetings in the Union Mills area.
