WINAMAC - Harold Wayne Tunis, 68, of 7980 S 475 W, Winamac, passed away at 3:15 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 24, at Hickory Creek, Winamac.
He was born Nov. 19, 1941, in Chicago,to Clarence and Virginia Robinson Tunis.

Mr. Tunis was a retired switchboard operator and manager for AT&T. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Conflict. He was formerly of Hammond and had lived in Winamac since 1996.
Friends may call after 3 p.m., Thursday, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. A memorial services will follow at 4 p.m., (Thursday, Sept. 2), at the funeral home with Pastor Rick Abbott officiating. The American Legion and VFW will conduct military honors at the funeral home following the service.
Memorial donations may be given to: Friends of Pleasant View Rest Home, St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Riley Hopsital, or the Ronald McDonald House.
Elvin Funk
August 16, 1931 to August 26, 2010
ROYAL CENTER - Elvin “Busse” Funk, 79, of Winamac formerly of Royal Center passed away at 2:03 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 26, at Pulaski Healthcare Center in Winamac.
Born on Aug. 16, 1931 in Pulaski County, he was the son of the late Willen and Beulah (Brown) Funk.
Survivors include brother, Willen “Timer” Funk of Winamac; sister-in-law, Sandra Funk of Logansport; nieces and nephews, Margaret Roberts and husband Lucas of Arizona, Mary Campbell and husband Herb of Star City, Marcia Funk of Logansport, Marvin Funk and wife Patty of Rochester, Conrad Funk and wife Elaine of Royal Center, Robert Funk and wife Debbie of Royal Center, Garry Funk of Jasper, Deena Hubler and husband Robert of Jasper and Michele Funk-Corey and husband David of Fishers. He was also survived by several great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Clive “Tate” Funk and Merlin Funk.
Mr. Funk was a member of First Baptist Church in Winamac and he participated in Special Olympics for many years. He was formerly employed at Peak Community Services in Winamac.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, at Harrison-Metzger & Rans Funeral Home, Royal Center. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m., (Saturday, Aug. 28), at the funeral home with Pastor Mark Pilger officiating. Burial will be at Kistler Cemetery, Royal Center.

Peggy Taylor
August 16, 1945 to August 22, 2010
NORTH JUDSON - Peggy Marie (Hunt) Taylor, 65, of Winamac, passed away Sunday, Aug. 22, at her daughter's home in North Judson.
She was born Aug. 16, 1945.
Survivors include daughters, Denice M. (Jeff) Daggett of Knox and Tina M. Dickey of North Judson; son, Chuck (Donna) Witten of Knox; mother, Ollie M. Campbell of Jasper, AL.
The funeral service will be at 6 p.m., Thursday (Aug. 26), at O'Donnell Funeral Home in North Judson. Visitation is one hour prior to service at the funeral home.
Richard W. Allen
May 5, 1952 to August 19, 2010
ROYAL CENTER - Richard W. Allen, 58, of Star City passed away unexpectedly 7:35 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 19, at Pulaski Memorial Hospital, Winamac.
Born May 5, 1952 in Winamac, he was the son of the late Ralph W. and Lena R. (Newport) Allen. On June 18, 1972 in Pulaski, he married Shelia A. Butler. She survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Amanda M. Allen; grandson, Collin Wayne Allen; brothers, Dean E. Allen and wife, Barbara, Thomas C. Allen and wife, Rebecca, Timothy R. Allen and wife, Christine, all of Star City. He is also survived by nieces, Carmen Snyder of Burnettsville, Janette Moore of Andrews, Anita Allen of Minnesota, Shannon Davis of Monticello, Shelby Allen of Lafayette and nephews, James Allen of Minnesota, Craig Allen of Star City and Scott Allen of Monticello; sisters-in-law, May Vance and husband Collins of Bowling Green, Ky., Edwina Cook of Mt. Washington, Ky., Wanda Rice and husband Ronald of Brownstown, and brother-in-law, Paul H. Butler. He was also survived by several great nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by nephew, Christopher Ralph Allen.
Mr. Allen was a 1970 Winamac Community High School graduate and a graduate of Lincoln Technical Institute in Indianapolis. He was a farmer and a former parts manager at Case Power and Equipment in Winamac for 25 years. He had also formerly worked at Berkshire Implement in Royal Center for two years and Tri County Builders for 10 years. He had also been a representative of Juice Plus+.
He was a member of Pulaski Presbyterian Church, Redman Lodge in Monticello and a member of the Indiana Trailriding Association. He was also a former member of Odd Fellows Lodge in Winamac. He was also an amateur photographer and had a pilot’s license. He was also formerly active in Competitive Mounted Orienteering where he was a 1000 point achiever.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home, and also one hour before the time of service. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Monday (Aug. 23), at Harrison-Metzger & Rans Funeral Home, 304 S. Chicago St., Royal Center. Burial will be at Pro Cemetery, Headlee.

Opal A. Crist
October 24, 192 to August 25, 2010
WINAMAC - Opal Arbutus Crist, 97, of 7784 S 450 W, Star City, passed away at 6:55 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 25, at the Pulaski Health Care Center, Winamac.
She was born Oct. 27, 1912, in Royal Center, to Peter and Cora Rude Hatfield. She married Murl Crist on Feb. 17, 1931 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pulaski. He died on Feb. 17, 2005.

Mrs. Crist graduated from Star City School in 1930. She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was active in the Christian Mothers group and enjoyed sewing for the missions. She had worked as a telephone operator at Hoover Bros. in Star City and had also worked at the Star City School cafeteria.
Friends may call from 9 to 10 a.m., Saturday, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. A funeral mass will follow at 11 a.m., Saturday (Aug. 28), at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Pulaski, with Rev. Ronald Schiml officiating.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery South, Pulaski.

WINAMAC - Dorothy A. Baker, 88, of 262 S 300 E, Winamac, died at 5:50 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 14, at Pulaski Healthcare Center in Winamac.
She was born May 3, 1922, in Culver, to Owen and Anna Weaver Weaver. She married Ralph Walter Baker Feb. 26, 1949 in Winamac. Ralph died June 12, 1988.

Mrs. Baker was a cook at Eastern Pulaski Schools. She retired in 1992. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Winamac. She was also a member of the Christian Mothers, Daughters of Isabella and was a charter member of the Twilight Twenty Extension Homemakers Club. She was a frequent exhibitor at the Extension Homemakers' Open Class at the Pulaski County fair.
Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. A scriptural wake service will be held at 7 p.m. The funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday (Aug. 18), in St. Peter's Catholic Church, Winamac, with Rev. Martin Sandhage officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Winamac.
Memorial donations may be given to the Cancer Society, Heart Association or Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Charles H. Baumgartner

FRANCESVILLE - Charles Henry Baumgartner, 59, of 5554 E. Campo Bello Drive, Scottsdale, AZ, died at 8:15 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 10, at his residence.
He was born July 5, 1951, in Goshen, to Henry and Mary Emerson Baumgartner.

Mr. Baumgartner had lived in Arizona for over 15 years, moving there from Francesville. He was a long time member of the Apostolic Christian Church in Indiana and Arizona. He held a bachelor's degree in agriculture from Purdue University. He had owned a landscaping company in Francesville, was a teacher for some time, and most recently worked for a credit card company in their fraud prevention department.
Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m., Thursday, at Apostolic Christian Church, Francesville. The funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. (Thursday, Aug. 19), at the church, with the ministers of the church officiating. Burial will be in Roseland Cemetery, Francesville.
