Gregory N. Coburn

October 4, 1963 to August 17, 2013

MEDARYVILLE - A graveside service will be held Saturday (Sept. 21) for Gregory Nelson Coburn, 49, of Royse City, TX who passed away Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013.

He was born on Oct. 4, 1963 in Gary, to Robert and Janet Coburn.

He is survived by his mother, Janet Coburn Yurgevich and husband Howard; brother, Rick Dale Coburn and wife Janine; niece, Kristen Coburn, nephew, Trever Coburn, grandmother, Wilma Coburn and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Coburn, grandfather, Trever Nelson Coburn, grandparents, Mary and Emmett Potts; uncle, Trever Reed “Nick” Coburn.

Mr. Coburn owned the Save-A-Lot store in Greenville where he was known for being a caring employer. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and East Texas living.

A memorial service was held in Texas.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m., Saturday (Sept. 21), at Independence Cemetery, Medaryville, with Don Nedza officiating. Burial will follow.

Local arrangements have been entrusted to Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel, Medaryville.

Martha Baker

November 28, 1928 to August 26, 2013

GALVESTON - Martha Baker, 84, of Walton passed away at 12:05 a.m., Monday, Aug. 26 at Miller’s Merry Manor, Logansport, surrounded by her loving family.  

She was born Nov. 28, 1928 in Medaryville, to the late Helen and Ray Banes.  

Survivors include Charles L. Baker, husband, her children Charles L. Baker, Jr (Sandra) of Kokomo, Jeffery S. (Nancy) of Logansport,  Randall S. (Lisa), of Peru, Dennis D. (Elsie) of Walton,  Martalee Montgomery (Ron) of Walton, 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Also, three sisters Ramona (Jimmy) Departe, of Casa Grande, AZ, Judy (Ray) Propoes of Idaville, and Debra Durham of Dobie, TX.

Mrs. Baker was a member of Walton Christian Church. She was a former member of Gay Niters Home Economics Club.She was a retired cook from Lewis Cass High School, and a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and spending time with her family.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston; and one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday (Aug. 30), at Walton Christian Church in Walton, with Rev. Bill Collins officiating. Burial will follow at Walton IOOF Cemetery in Walton.

Memorial donations may be sent to the Alzheimer’s association in her honor.

Ernest D. Lehman

May 19, 1925 to September 4, 2013

WINAMAC - Ernest David "Dave" Lehman, 88, of Logansport, formerly of Star City, died at 12:55 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 4, at the Woodbrige Health Campus in Logansport.

He was born May 19, 1925, in Elkhart, to the late Ernest D Sr.. and Mary T. Wherli Lehman. He married Dorothy Louise Boardman on Aug. 16, 1947 in Nappanee. She survives.

He was preceded in death by:
1 Sister & 2 Brothers

Mr. Lehman served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He received the Purple Heart Medal for wounds recieved in action. He earned an AB and MA degrees from the University of Notre Dame and a Doctorate from the University of Chicago. He taught at Valparaiso University, Northwestern University and the University of Chicago. Most of his career was spent teaching politcal science at Central Connecticut State University.

Private family services will be scheduled at a later date.

 

Theodore Rausch

January 8, 1952 to September 3, 2013

WINAMAC - Theodore "Ted" Rausch, 61, Winamac, passed away at 6:20 p.m.,Tuesday, Sept. 3, at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.

He was born Jan. 8, 1952, in Logansport, to the late Casper Christian and Frances E. Reidelbach Rausch. He married Karla Jo Knebel on Sept. 10, 1976, in Winamac. She passed away on Jan. 9, 1979.

Mr. Rausch was a member of the St. Peter's Catholic Church, Winamac, and the Knights of Columbus. He was a former Pulaski County Commissioner, serving two terms from 1993-2000, and a former member of the Pulaski County Council from 2001-2004. He was appointed to serve as the Pulaski County Recycling manager in 2001 and served in that capacity until 2007. He was also named the Transfer Station manager and was in that position from 2002-2007. He was a member of the North West Indiana Solid Waste Board from 2001-2007. He was a farmer all of his life. He also had worked for Rife Heavy Duty Truck Parts and Jim Berry and Sons. He loved Indiana University basketball and was an avid golfer. He also enjoyed playing cards, and truck and tractor pulling.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. A scriptural wake service will be at 7:30 p.m., at the funeral home. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Saturday (Sept. 7), at the funeral home with Rev. Leroy Kinnaman and Rev. Edward Clark officiating. Burial will be at St. Peter's Cemetery, Winamac.

Memorial donations may be given to a college fund for Teddi Rausch or the American Heart Association. 

Alma J. Clemons

December 29, 1935 to August 26, 2013

KNOX - Alma Jean Clemons, age 77, of Denham, passed away Monday, Aug. 26. 

She was born Dec. 29, 1935 in Hawes Fork, KY to Fallen and Eva (Minix) Manns, both deceased. On Feb. 9, 1955 in Salyersville, KY she married Lee Clemons. He preceded her in death on March 17, 2008. 

She is survived by her children, Darrell Clemons (Cindy) of Knox, Debra Gayheart (Keith) of Winamac, Michael Clemons (Kelly) of Knox, and Peggy Howard of Knox; her sisters, Jewell Prater of North Judson, Louise Sanchez of Denham, and Melovee Howard of Denham; 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by daughters, Pamela Gail Back and Donna Faye Clemons, a brother, Bill Manns, a sister, Wilma Reinholt, grandson Daniel Lee Howard and great grandson, Michael Keith Gayheart, Jr.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. (CT), Wednesday, at M.C. Smith Funeral Home in Knox. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. (CT) Thursday (Aug. 29), at the funeral home. Interment will take place at the Denham Cemetery.

Bruce Whitaker

August 24, 1964 to August 24, 2013

MEDARYVILLE - Bruce Whitaker, 49, of Winamac, passed away at 5:30 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 24, in Rensselaer.

He was born Aug. 24, 1964, in Rensselaer, to Joseph and Edna Patton Whitaker.

Mr. Whitaker had worked at Monon Trailer for several years. He enjoyed auto racing and being outdoors. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especialy his mother.

Visitation will be from 10  to 11 a.m., Wednesday, at Goodway Baptist Church, Medaryville. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. (Wednesday, Aug.28), at the church, with Pastor James Rowe officiating. Private burial will be at Independence Cemetery, Medaryville.

Memorial donations may be given to the family.

Corey Pugh

February 14, 1965 to August 25, 2013

WINAMAC - Corey Allen Pugh, 48, Indianapolis, formerly of Winamac, passed away at 12:24 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 25, in Indianapolis.

He was born Feb. 14, 1965, in Pontiac, MI, to William and Marie Archer Pugh Jr. He married Joanne B. Wenzler on May 15, 1993, in Winamac. She survives.

Mr. Pugh was a 1983 graduate of Winamac Community High School and attended Purdue University. He had resided in Indianapolis for over 20 years. His career included managing numerous restaurants including Arby's in the Indianapolis area. He enjoyed camping, golfing, watching sports especially the Indianapolis Colts, and spending time with his friends and family.

Visitation will be after 9 a.m., Friday, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m., (Friday, Aug. 30), at the funeral home with Rev. Matt Landry officiating. Burial will be in McKinley Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Winamac.
