The superintendent gave a brief construction and pool update, and added that photos and additional updates are posted online.
Dr. Rowe also reported on the following:
- A community meet-and-greet for the new Francesville Childcare Center at the former Catholic church was scheduled.
- There will be no school on Good Friday (April 18), and April 25 will be an early release day.
- The schools continue to focus on “Trojan Traits” - character traits that staff highlight. These include respect, responsibility, integrity and citizenship.
- School officials are working on pricing for new locker room lockers.
- Graduation is May 25.
- The June and July board meetings will be pushed back one week.
- The board will be required, starting July 1, to videotape board meetings.
In other business, Student of the Month awards were presented to Dylan West at the elementary school and Nathan Kimberly at the middle/high School.

Action Items
The school board approved a Sunday performance for the West Central Middle/High School choir on March 16.
The board voted to approve the items to be declared surplus, as presented.
Principal Reports
Middle/high school principal Mike Carlson reported much happened in the shorter month of March.
Early release work focused on curriculum maps.
Thanks were extended to Donita Stimson for the “wonderful pies” on Pi Day. Continuing the dessert theme, the school held the first incentive for high school students meeting behavior and academic goals for the third nine weeks. Approximately 160 students enjoyed ice cream sundaes. The middle school had 87 percent of its students meet their incentive goals. They earned lunch and then a movie at ISIS Theatre.
The CNA students traveled to Logansport to take their written and skills exams. All 11 students passed.
The middle and high school jazz bands had successful competitions. The high school earned silver, missing gold by two points, and the middle school did earn gold.
A ceremony was held to induct new members into the National Honor Society and National Junior Honor Society. Fourteen students earned their membership in each one.
Community members enjoyed the entertainment at the Cabaret.
The school kicked off Spring Break with the annual Sports Spectacular. Fun was had by all. Carson said “great things happening at West Central in all areas.”
Elementary school principal Toni Blaszczyk shared that West Central Elementary students in grades 2-3 took the IREAD-3 State Assessment in March. 77 percent of third grade students and 38 percent of second grade students passed the IREAD-3 assessment. During the summer test window, third grade students have two chances to pass and second grade students have one. Students who did not pass will start remediation the week of April 21. The summer test window opens May 12-June 27. The next test date is planned for May.
The ILEARN testing window opens April 14-May 9. The school will start the week of April 21.
The school’s 2025 Pace grant proposal was approved for full funding. The elementary will receive $14,000 to assist with its goals.
The elementary school has many activities planned over the next few weeks with its AR and math incentives, Junior Achievement, spelling bee, music, and awards program.
Principal Blaszczyk will be working with staff to plan for IREAD remediation and summer school.
