The highest temperature in 2024 was 97 degrees on Aug. 27. The lowest temperature was -9 degrees on Jan. 14 and 15. The average high temperature for the year was 64.6 degrees which ranks as the warmest on record. The average low temperature was 44.1 degrees which ranks second behind 1973 which had an average low temperature of 44.4 degrees.
The total precipitation for the year was 40.18 inches. This is 0.95 inches above the normal of 39.23 inches, the measurement ranking as the 37th wettest year on record, and the wettest since 2021.
Total snowfall in the South Bend district for the year was 36.3 inches which is 28.2 inches below the normal of 64.5 inches. This is the seventh least amount of snow on record.
