Kids’ “Adventure Begins” Summer Reading Activities take place at 5 p.m., Mondays; and 10:30 a.m., Thursdays through July 11. These programs consist of crafts, stories and more, based around a weekly theme. Visit the library’s website to see what’s happening on a particular day.
A special guest visits on Wild Wednesdays to teach kids about something from the natural world. This month we’re talking about frogs, bees, otters and more. This program is for children in kindergarten and up, and is held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesdays over the summer.
Drop in anytime between 1 to 6 p.m., Wednesday, July 3 for a unique Fireworks Painting Craft. Kids will dip forks in red, white and blue paint and then press the forks on dark paper, creating some fireworks that really pop.
All ages and skill levels are welcome at Yoga at the Library. Sessions will be held at 9:30 a.m., Saturdays, July 6 and July 27; and at 5:45 p.m., Thursday, July 11. Weather permitting, yoga will take place outside in the grassy area next to the cabin; otherwise it will be held indoors. Limited yoga mats are available – bring yours if you have one. Sign-up is encouraged – call the library to reserve your spot.
With Power from the Past coming up, the library is hosting a Tractor Story Time at 10 and 11:30 a.m., Saturday, July 6. We’ll read Pete the Cat’s Old MacDonald Had a Farm and more, sing, participate in rhyming activities, play and make a craft.
Book Club will be at 2:30 p.m., Friday, June 12. The book up for discussion is Fly Girl by Ann Hood. The meeting will take place in the Magnolia Room at the library. We can email a Zoom link to any attendees who wish to participate virtually who register in advance. To sign up, call the library at 574-946-3432.
Kids can Make a Birdhouse and take it home to put up for their feathered friends. This crafty workshop for kids will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 13.
Join us for an evening of creativity at our “Canvas & Beyond” Adult Canvas Painting workshop from 5 to 6:30 p.m., Thursday, July 18. All materials will be provided for the class. Space is limited; advance sign-up is required. Call the library to reserve your spot.
Chair Yoga will be held at the library at 2 p.m., Tuesday, July 23. Chair yoga is a gentle movement exercise that can be done while sitting on a chair. It’s a great option for people who have limited mobility or are otherwise unable to practice traditional yoga. Sign-up is encouraged – call the library to reserve your spot.
The library will host a chameleon-themed Story Time at 10 and 11:30 a.m., Saturday, July 27. Jolie will read A Lizard Named Lovely by the late local author Phyllis Goble-Kruger. Come in to hear this book by a local writer, as well as sing, play, and make a craft.
Regular Summer Programs:
Kids can use their imaginations to make amazing creations with Legos at Lego Builders all day on Mondays over the summer.
Come in for Story Time and activities for toddlers on Toddler Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. If you can’t make it in the morning, Afternoon Story Time is held on Tuesdays at 5:15 p.m.
Hoosier Explorers is a casual social gathering for seniors and retirees. Meetings include games, presentations, and light discussions. Hoosier Explorers is held at the library at 1p.m., the second Tuesday of the month
The library shows a Family Movie suitable for all ages every Wednesday morning over the summer at 10:30. Visit the library’s website to see what is playing on a particular date.
The library’s collection of Board Games for all ages is available all day on Thursdays.
Drop in anytime on Fridays to make a fun Kids’ Craft. Crafts will be available while supplies last. Any extra craft kits will be available the following week while supplies last.
