Joan M. Donald

MEDARYVILLE - Joan M. Donald, 77, of Medaryville (formerly of Gary), passed away Sunday, Aug. 20, at Pulaski Health Care Center in Winamac.
She was born Oct. 20, 1945 in Mishawaka, to the late Harry O. and Opal L. [Brown] Hively. On Dec. 7, 1974, she married Don L. Donald in Gary. He survives.
She is also survived by: 3 Siblings: Pamela, Vivian and Michael
Mrs. Donald was a retired school bus driver for Gary schools.
Private burial will take place at White Post Cemetery in Medaryville.

Carl T. Marcyjanick
August 6, 1937 to August 18, 2023
ROYAL CENTER - Carl T. Marcyjanick, 86, of Monterey passed away at 10:30 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 18, at Pulaski Memorial Hospital in Winamac.
Born Aug. 6, 1937 in East Chicago, he was the son of the late Theodore and Martha (Rogala) Marcyjanick.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Kathleen Marcyjanick and sons, Christopher Marcyjanick of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. and Eric Marcyjanick of Monterey.
Mr. Marcyjanick was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, and he retired from Bethlehem Steel.
Per his wishes there will be no services.
Dr. Robert E. Hott
June 1, 1932 to August 16, 2023
WINAMAC - Dr. Robert “Bob” Eugene Hott D.D.S., 91, of Kokomo (formerly of Kouts), passed away suddenly Wednesday, Aug. 16, at his residence.
He was born June 1, 1932 at the family home place in rural Winamac, to the late Charles Earl and Mary Ellen [Felder] Hott. He graduated from Winamac High School in 1950 and earned a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University in 1954. He married his high school sweetheart, Haroldean R. Schiesser, on June 5, 1954.

After graduating from the Indiana University School of Dentistry in Indianapolis in 1958, Dr. Hott served two years in the U.S. Army Dental Corps. He achieved the rank of captain and was honorably discharged on April 20, 1964. He practiced general dentistry in Kouts for 50 years until his retirement at age 80.
Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 20, at Frain Mortuary in Winamac. The funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. (Sunday), at the funeral home with Pastor Jeff Seger officiating. Burial will be at Winamac Cemetery (Town Addition) in Winamac. The American Legion and VFW will conduct military graveside services.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Shirley F. Dunkel
April 6, 1947 to August 14, 2023
WINAMAC - Shirley F. Dunkel, 76, of LaGrange, passed away Monday, Aug. 14, at her home, surrounded by family.
She was born April 6, 1947 at the family farm in rural Winamac, the daughter of Berl L. and Fern Fay [Roberts] Stout. She attended Pulaski Grade/High School. On Sept. 3, 1988, she married James A. “Jim” Dunkel in LaGrange. He survives.

Mrs. Dunkel worked at Ohio Table Pad Co. in LaGrange for many years until retirement. She enjoyed reading, going on walks, and spending time with her family. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, Aug. 18, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 19, at Bell Center Bible Church (11971 E. SR 16), Burnettsville with Pastor Ed Roller officiating. Burial will be at Koster Cemetery, Francesville.

WINAMAC - Ralph Junior Shidler, 87, of West Lafayette (formerly of Medaryville) passed away Thursday, Aug. 10, at the Indiana Veteran’s Home where he had resided for the past two-and-a-half years.
He was born April 12, 1936 in Jefferson Township, Pulaski County to the late Thomas Paul and Ruth Florence [Biddle] Shidler. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954-56 and was stationed in Anchorage, AK.

A graveside service celebrating the life of Ralph and his late sons, Scott and Michael, will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 7, at the Indiana Veteran’s Home Cemetery with Pastor Dennis Gutwein officiating. Burial will be at the cemetery, located at 3851 N. River Rd., West Lafayette.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Indiana Veteran’s Home Cemetery or Southern Care Hospice.

LOGANSPORT - Allen Eugene “Butch” Slusser Jr., 70, of Francesville, passed away Wednesday Aug. 9, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

He was born July 6, 1953, in Logansport to Allen Eugne Sr. and Dorothy (Kistler) Slusser.
Survivors include his mother of Francesville; two sisters, Susan Overton, Francesville and Rebecca (Paul) Hintz, Francesville; 5 nieces and nephews and 2 great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Timothy John Slusser.
Mr. Slusser was a former mechanic and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday Aug. 19, at the Francesville Baptist Church with Pastor Dennis Gutwein officiating. Private burial will be at Keeps Creek Cemetery near Clymers.

WINAMAC - Sandy Arnett Craig, 62, of Winamac passed away Wednesday, Aug. 9, at Northwest Health Hospital in LaPorte.
She was born Dec. 28, 1960 in South Bend, to J.B. and Kathleen Collins Arnett. She was raised in North Judson, and graduated from NJSP High School in 1979. On April 30, 1988, she married Steve Craig in Winamac. He survives.

Mrs. Craig worked at Eaton’s for many years until they closed. She retired from Dr. Heinsen’s office where she had worked as a medical clerk. She was a member of the Winamac FOE #2580. She was also a member of Church of the Heartland. She loved her family dearly, and especially cherished spending time with her grandsons, Casen and Kammy as well as talking on the phone with her grandson, Chance. She was Casen’s number one fan at the ballpark. She enjoyed shopping, getting her hair done, and tanning (thanks Gerry Jo!). She liked going to church and riding in the golf cart with Steve and their dog, Spud. She was full of life and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 13, at Frain Mortuary in Winamac. The funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. (Sunday), at the funeral home. Private burial will be at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Winamac.
