Darl Miller
February 11, 1931 to March 24, 2016
WINAMAC - Darl G. Miller, 85, of Winamac, passed away at 5:02 p.m., Thursday, March 24, at Pulaski Memorial Hospital, Winamac.
He was born Feb. 11, 1931 in Star City to the late Frank and Evelyn Wein Miller. Hr married Wanda F. Wheatley in September 1964 in Kalamazoo, Mich. She preceded him in death on Feb. 3, 2016.
Survivors include:
Daughters: Tommi Borsini, Granger, and Kelly Miller, Winamac. Son: Bruce Wheatley, Kalamazoo. Grandchildren: Bruce (Denise) Wheatley Jr; Brian (Angie) Wheatley; Danna Tibbs; Dustin Tibbs; and 7 great grandchildren. Sisters: Marilyn Wentz, Winamac; Pauline (Richard) Smith, Winamac; and Janie (Al) Deangelis, Phoenix, Ariz.
Mr. Miller graduated from Pulaski High School in 1949 and as a freshman, played on the championship basketball team. He joined the U.S. Air Force and served during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW. Immediately following his service, he joined IBM in Kalamazoo, and later was transferred to Phoenix. He retired as a field engineer and returned to Southwestern Michigan and later moved back to the family homestead in rural Kewanna.
Mr. Miller was a championship trap shooter, winning numerous titles, honors, and trophies in Michigan tournaments as well as in the Grand American Trap Shoot tournament in Vandalia, OH (where thousands gather from all over the country). He was a lifetime member of the Battle Creek Gun Club and a founding member of the Centerline Gun Club, both in Michigan. He was also a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association (he was known to sign people up for memberships who may not have otherwise subscribed). He was an avid hunter of game birds as well as deer and elk. He killed a prize-winning elk in 1983. He was a woodworker and especially enjoyed restoring old furniture and cars. He specialized in making trap gun stocks for people all around the country. He enjoyed flea markets and was a collector. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his beloved wife, Wanda. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He will be dearly missed.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m., Saturday, April 2, at Frain Mortuary in Winamac. The funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. (Saturday, April 2), at the funeral home with David Broad officiating. The American Legion and VFW will conduct military honors at the funeral home following services. Private burial will be at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, Mich.

WINAMAC - RubyAnn Loveless, 91, of Spooner, WI (formerly of Winamac) passed away at 7:20 p.m., Tuesday, March 15, at Maple Ridge Care Center, Spooner.
She was born on Oct. 21, 1924 in Whiting, to the late Andrew and Zella Hall Pfeifer. She married Donald Loveless on Aug. 23, 1941 in Logansport. He preceded her in death on June 13, 1988.

Mrs. Loveless was a member of Tippecanoe Christian Church in Indiana and Cook Community Bible Church in Tennessee. She enjoyed being a homemaker, especially quilting and cooking. She will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m., Sunday, March 20, at Tippecanoe Christian Church, Winamac. The funeral service will follow at 3 p.m., at the church, with Rev. Edward Clark officiating. Burial be at Tippecanoe Cemetery, Winamac.

WINAMAC - Carol Jean Sparks, 66, of Winamac, passed away peacefully at 10:22 p.m., Tuesday, March 15, at Pulaski Memorial Hospital, Winamac.
She was born Dec. 6, 1949 in Long Beach, CA to Kenneth and Betty Pettit. On Feb. 1, 1994, she married David Henry Sparks. He survives.

Mrs. Sparks graduated from John Glenn High School in Norwalk, CA in 1968. She was an active member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Winamac. She was a devoted servant of the Lord, always willing to work with the children and counseling anyone in need. She enjoyed being involved with the church choir, plays, and leading women's Bible study. She especially enjoyed reading her Bible every day. She was an avid dog lover. She enjoyed crafting and making decorations with her Cricut. She handmade many special items for area festivals, fairs, and hospital parties.
Mrs. Sparks was employed at Pulaski Memorial Hospital where she was most recently promoted to vice president of service excellence. She loved working at the hospital, especially helping others. Prior to working at PMH, she had served as director of the Chamber of Commerce. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She adored her children and grandchildren and looked forward to visiting them every year. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m., Saturday, March 19, at Fellowship Baptist Church, Winamac. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m., at the church with Pastor Chad Ritchie officiating. Burial will be at McKinley Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Winamac.
At the family’s request, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Fellowship Baptist Church.

Larry L. Hooker

FRANCESVILLE - Larry L. Hooker, 65, of Francesville, passed away at 10 a.m., Sunday, March 6, at St. Elizabeth East, Lafayette.
He was born Dec. 10, 1950, in Winamac to Lamoine and Emogene Stamer Hooker. He married Nancy Long on Sept. 29, 1973 in Logansport. She survives.

Mr. Hooker was a lifelong farmer, and enjoyed working with his cattle. He had also worked at the Ball Corporation in Monticello. He enjoyed playing sports, watching the Cubs, the Bears and the Indiana Hoosiers. He was the lead singer in his band, The Referees, in the 1970s. He loved music and dancing. He was an avid card player. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a terrific husband, father and grandfather.
A private funeral service will be held at Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht, Francesville, with Rev. Judith Doll officiating. Burial will be in Idle Cemetery, Francesville.
Memorial donations may be given to National Kidney Foundation.
Glenda P. Conley
March 20, 1937 to February 29, 2016
WHEATFIELD - Glenda Pearl Conley, 78, of Francesville, passed away Monday, Feb. 29.
She was born March 20, 1937 to the late Jesse and Mary (Bredeholt) Osborn in Toto. On July 30, 1957, she married Claude Conley in Denver, Colo. He survives.
She is survived by her loving family: children: Beverly (Howard) Glovier, Phyllis Koebcke, Arthur (Susie) Conley, Anita (Bill) Dionne, Kelly Conley, Mike (Robin) Conley, Sarah (Pat) Williamson, James (Kristine) Conley, Claudia (Scott) Elston, Jessica (Rocky) Strange, 35 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, brother: Marvin (Rosella) Osborn, sisters: Ilene Sherfy and Alice (Gerry) Winter.
She is preceded in death by her sibilings: Bud Osborn, Luella Norris, Rosemary Osborn.
Mrs. Conley graduated from Argos schools. She served the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1957. She was a member of the Christian Church of Medaryville. She enjoyed cooking for Pearly Mae’s Restaurant as well as being a housewife.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. (EST) Thursday, March 3, at the Christian Church of Medaryville. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Friday, March 4, at the church with Pastor Don Nedza officiating. Interment will follow at White Post Cemetery with military graveside services.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Christian Church of Medaryville.

WINAMAC - Claudia Ray White, 63, of Winamac, passed away at 10 p.m., Friday, March 4, at her home, surrounded by her family after a brave battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease).
She was born Nov. 5, 1952 in Frankfort to the late Curtis Ray and Joan Donnis Pearcy Morris. She married John Joseph White on Aug. 4, 1984 at the Pulaski Presbyterian Church. He survives.

Mrs. White was a graduate of Rossville High School and Ivy Tech, having received an associate's degree. She was employed as a customer service representative at 1st Source Bank in Winamac where she received many awards over the years. Many Winamac school kids will remember Mrs. White as the crossing guard, a job she did with great pride. She also owned and operated her own tax preparation service and volunteered her expertise to help others through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Winamac. She dedicated her life to the service of God and helping others. She was an active member of the Salvation Army and the Winamac Kiwanis Club. In 2015, she was recognized as Kiwanian of the Year. She was also active in the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and Ladies of the Moose. She was a strong supporter of the Winamac Band and Music Boosters as well as the school musicals. She was an avid Winamac Warriors and Purdue University sports fan. She enjoyed the music of the Purdue University Varsity Glee Club. She was beloved by the Winamac community and will be missed by many. She loved her family very dearly. Upon reflection on her life she said, "Jesus, John and my kids ... those are the love of my life."
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 8, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac; and one hour prior to services at the church Wednesday. A Kiwanis service will be held at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 9, at First United Methodist Church, Winamac, with Pastor Dave Marty officiating. Burial will be at Winamac Cemetery, Winamac.
Memorial donations may be given to First United Methodist Church or Salvation Army.
Elizabeth Parcel
July 7, 1933 to March 1, 2016
WINAMAC - Elizabeth A. "Betty" Parcel, 82, of Star City, passed away at 4:05 a.m., Tuesday, March 1, at the White Oak Health Campus in Monticello.
She was born July 7, 1933, in Winamac, to the late Peter and Martha Wills Wegner. She married Darl Dean Parcel on March 2, 1957 in St. Peter's Catholic Church in Winamac. He died Jan. 21, 2003.

Mrs. Parcel worked as a bookkeeper and Star City branch manager of the First Union Bank for many years. She also had worked in the Pulaski County Treasurer's office and auditor's office for several years. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. She volunteered for the Pulaski Memorial Auxiliary for many years. She was a member and past president of the Star City Lions Club and was a long time secretary/treasurer of the Pulaski County Democrats ladies group. She was a member of Bunco Club and Book Club and Red Hat Society. She was recognized as a Pulaski County Woman of the year. She especially enjoyed lunch with her former co-workers. She and her husband enjoyed, golfing, square dancing and doing woodworking projects together. She also enjoyed painting and crocheting. Her proudest achievement was being a farmer's wife for many years. She will be sadly missed by her family, especially her nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m., Thursday, March 3, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. A scriptural wake service will be at 3 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home. A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, March 4, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Winamac, with Rev. Leroy Kinnaman officiating. Burial will be at Star City West Cemetery, Star City.
Memorial donations may be given to Star City Lions Club or American Heart Fund.
