The Top 10 finalists were from Gibson, Martin, LaPorte, Hancock, Owen, Decatur, Bartholomew, Elkhart, Tipton and Monroe counties.
The Top 16 semi-finalists were from Martin, LaPorte, Bartholomew, Crawford, Whitley, Owen, Steuben, Madison, Tipton, Decatur, Warrick, Hancock, Johnson, Monroe, Gibson, and Elkhart counties.
Pulaski County was represented by 2022 county fair queen Kingsley Kroft. She is the daughter of Becky and Kole Kroft and a sophomore at Purdue University studying pre-law.
The Indiana State Fair Queen plays a key role in promoting the Indiana State Fair by traveling nearly 6,500 miles during June and July to approximately 45 counties in preparation for the Indiana State Fair.
The pageant judging was held over two days (Jan. 7-8) with preliminary judging on Saturday and finals on Sunday.
The contestants are scored in four categories: judges’ interview (45 percent), prepared speech (15 percent), professional wear (20 percent) and formal wear (20 percent).
The winner of the state pageant will receive the title “Miss Indiana State Fair 2023” and must be prepared to spend the entire 17-day period at the 2023 Indiana State Fair: July 28 - Aug. 20. The winner will become an employee of the Indiana State Fair Commission throughout her 12- month year of service.
