Early Voting

Early voting for the November 2E026 General Election in Indiana will run Tuesday, Oct. 6 through 12 noon, Monday, Nov. 2.

All registered voters are eligible to participate in early in-person voting. A valid photo ID is required. A list of the offices up for election and the candidates who are seeking those offices appears in another article on this website.

Early voting will be offered at the ground floor of the Pulaski County Courthouse, 112 E. Main St., Winamac as follows:

  • 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., weekdays (Oct. 6 through Oct. 30)
  • 8 a.m. to 12 noon, Saturdays (Oct. 24 and Oct. 31)
  • 8 a.m. to 12 noon, Monday, Nov. 2

Early voting will also be offered at the fire station in Francesville as follows:

  • 8 a.m. to 12 noon, Saturdays, Oct. 26 and Nov. 2

Information on voting by mail or traveling board is also available at the www.indianavoters.com website, as well as information on election security.

 

General Election Day is Tuesday Nov. 3

Pulaski County voters will make use of the five county Vote Centers for the election. Vote Centers will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern Time. 

Voters must have a photo ID with them. Acceptable forms of ID include driver’s license, BMV issued ID card, passport or photo ID issued by the State of Indiana or a Government issued ID.

Any Pulaski County registered voter may vote at ANY Vote Center on Election Day.

Francesville Vote Center – Francesville Fire Station – 122 E. Montgomery St., Francesville.

Medaryville Vote Center – Medaryville Christian Church Annex – 414 E. Ridge St., Medaryville.

Star City Vote Center – Star City Community Center – 2550 E. Key St., Star City.

Winamac Vote Center – Pulaski County Highway Garage – 1131 N. US 35, Winamac.

Monterey Vote Center – Monterey Town Hall – 7033 N. Walnut St., Monterey.

Historical Note of interest: The five Pulaski County Vote Centers were first used in the 2016 election. They are a consolidation of the county’s former 15 polling locations. (Voters continue to be designated to one of the 15 county precincts, but the poll locations were consolidated in 2016.)

Voter registration ends Oct. 5

Early voting in Indiana for the 2026 General Election begins Tuesday Oct. 6 and continues up until the Nov. 3 Election Day.

Are you registered to vote? Check your voter registration at www.IndianaVoters.com Have you moved, changed your name or will you be 18 years old by Nov. 3? Voter registration ends Monday Oct. 5 at 4 p.m., at the county clerk's office at the courthouse; or at 12 midnight online.

Historical Society annual fundraiser Oct. 3 to feature ‘Historical Horseraces’

WINAMAC – A “Night at the Races” is planned by the Pulaski County Historical Society for its annual fundraiser, Saturday, Oct. 3, at One Eyed Jacks’ Celebration Station in Winamac.

The event will include a series of “horse races” featuring historical jockeys such as “Casimir Pulaski and Chief Winamac,” plus dinner and drinks, auction items, pull tabs and accompanying cheering, laughing and memories.

St. Mark Lutheran to celebrate 150 years Sunday, Oct. 4

MEDARYVILLE - St. Mark Lutheran Church in Medaryville (114 E. Ridge St.), will celebrate its 150th anniversary at 4 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 4, with an early evening vespers worship service.

The Rev. Dr. Charles Gieschen - provost and professor of exegetical theology at Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne and the son of Henry Gieschen, former pastor at St. Mark from 1953 to 1956 - will be preaching.

PCT invites community to its Oktoberfest Saturday, Oct. 10

Oktoberfest - with a Pulaski County twist – is coming to the PCT Creative Hub and Market Street in downtown Winamac from 5 to 10 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 10.

Those attending (ages 21+) should expect Oktoberfest traditions, featuring live music, German food, traditional fall favorites, beer and wine garden, games, and “Play in Pulaski County” live and silent auctions. The event is sponsored by Pulaski County Tribe (PCT).

HVRM to run ‘Pumpkin Trains’ in October

NORTH JUDSON - The Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum will run Pumpkin Trains every Saturday in October in North Judson at the junction of four former railroads. Participants will enjoy a fun-filled ride through the crisp rural landscape while enjoying a mix of fall colors.

Also, a diorama of the Erie, Chesapeake & Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York Central railroads is on display in the admission-free HVRM museum, along with one of the largest collections of working railroad signals, a restored World War II Pullman Troop Car, and all types of rolling stock, engines and memorabilia of a by-gone era.

Pulaski County unemployment rate continues at 2.7% in August

Pulaski County's unemployment rate continued at 2.7 percent in August, the same as July, the Indiana Department of Workforce Development reported Monday, (Sept. 21). The rate was 2.8 percent a year earlier.

Pulaski County had 8,315 employed persons in a labor force of 8,543 in August. In July those numbers were 8,099 of 8,325. A year earlier the numbers were 7,860 of 8,085.

Reps. Culp, Jordan: Local students encouraged to apply for House internship

 STATEHOUSE (Sept. 21) – State Reps. Kendell Culp (R-Rensselaer) and Jack Jordan (R-Bremen) are encouraging local students to apply for the Indiana House Republican Internship Program for the 2027 legislative session.

The paid, full-time internship is open to college students, recent graduates and students in law or graduate school from January through April.

Mitch Frazier appointed president of Indiana Economic Development Corporation

INDIANAPOLIS (Sept. 17) –Gov. Mike Braun announced Thursday the appointment of Mitch Frazier as president of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC), effective Oct. 5.

Frazier, an experienced business leader, will work alongside Indiana Secretary of Commerce Chuck Goodrich and support the Braun administration’s agenda to grow Indiana’s economy and create greater opportunities for Hoosiers.

Governor delivers another month of gas tax suspensions

INDIANAPOLIS (Sept. 3) – Gov. Mike Braun Wednesday extended his suspension of Indiana’s gasoline usage tax and gasoline excise tax through Oct. 6, delivering another month of nation-leading relief for Hoosiers from high gas prices.

This suspension is part of the energy emergency that took effect Aug. 7. Both gas taxes will again be suspended through Oct. 6 in all 92 counties, resulting in separate suspensions that are consecutive. Braun will reevaluate in 30 days to determine whether another pause is necessary. The energy emergency provides a 120-day window of authority.

135 family farms honored with historic Hoosier Homestead Award

INDIANAPOLIS (Aug. 20) - Friday, at the Indiana State Fair, Lt. Gov. Micah Beckwith and Indiana State Department of Agriculture (ISDA) Director Don Lamb presented 135 farming families with a Hoosier Homestead Award in recognition of their commitment to Indiana agriculture.

Among those receiving awards was the Crist Family Farm in Pulaski County, founded in 1876, which received both Centennial and Sesquicentennial awards.

Who will be on your Pulaski County election ballot for the November 2026 Mid-Term Election?

Early voting for the election in Indiana begins Tuesday, Oct. 6. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3. Public comment period open for Jasper-Pulaski FWA visitor center environmental assessment 

INDIANAPOLIS (Sept. 3) - The Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is seeking public comments on a draft Environmental Assessment (EA) for construction of the new Jasper-Pulaski Fish & Wildlife Area (FWA) visitor center.

The draft EA describes the potential environmental impacts associated with constructing the new visitor center. Jasper-Pulaski FWA is known for offering quality, nature-based recreational opportunities. Each year, over 20,000 sandhill cranes stop at the property during fall migration, making it a popular destination for watching wildlife.

Local police investigate email threat at Winamac schools

WINAMAC – The Pulaski County Sheriff’s office reported Friday morning (Sept. 25) that it is working with state and Winamac police to investigate an anonymous email threat received at Eastern Pulaski Schools earlier in the day.

However, authorities note that the same email has been sent to approximately 100 schools around Indiana and two other states. The sheriff’s office reports the email is presently unsubstantiated. Extra patrols will continue on school grounds throughout the day for safety.

Coroner reports Winamac shooting death appears self-inflicted

Update: ISP investigation continues on police chase incident

WINAMAC - The Indiana State Police reported Thursday that the preliminary autopsy report on the driver who led police on a nearly 30-mile police chase Wednesday afternoon indicates the suspect died from a self-inflicted contact gunshot wound to the head.

The Pulaski County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased as Keith C. Ernest, 56, Winamac.
