He also leaves behind his son Danny (Stephanie) May of Pittsboro; daughter Amy (Travis) Caldwell of Peru; stepson Wesley (Caitlin) Odom of Indianapolis; sister Linda Souder of Garrett; three grandchildren and one expected in July; and his father-in-law Wayne Brown of Eminence.

In recent years, he was a member of the Eminence Harvest Festival. After retirement, he continued to master his skills at home doing the work he most enjoyed. He was an avid race fan, including NASCAR and Indy Car racing, loved visiting casinos, and was the best “doggie dad” to his two loyal companions, Lobo and Gunner. He adored being a grandfather. It is safe to say his first biological grandson was his entire world, and he was thrilled to become a grandpa again to his granddaughter who is expected this July. He undoubtedly loved his family and any gathering or event where he could spend time with them. He will also be remembered as quite the “people person” who, according to his wife, “so enjoyed his people.” He also enjoyed camping and traveling and took the trip of a lifetime in 2023 with his wife where they traveled the Historic Route 66, from Chicago to California.
