Raymond L. Podell

January 18, 1945 to April 3, 2018

GRAND FORKS, N.D. - Raymond L. Podell, 73, of Grand Forks, passed away Tuesday, April 3, at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks.

He was born Jan. 18, 1945, in Winamac, the son of the late Lowell and Helen Timm Podell.  He graduated from Winamac High School in 1963. He married Deanna Cunningham on June 6, 1964 in Denham. She survives.

Also surviving are son, Robert (Kathy) Podell of Grand Forks; grandchildren, Jade (Morgan Barry) Podell and Myranda Podell of Grand Forks; brother, Rick (Jeanie) Podell of Plymouth; furry friends, Wigs & Wags and several nieces and nephews, Ryan (Kate) Podell, Zionsville, JT (Julie) Podell, Palm Beach, FL, Kimberly (Tom) Tokoly,  North Liberty.

Mr. Podell and his wife first lived in Terre Haute where he received a bachelor's and master's degrees from Indiana State University. They later moved to Raleigh, NC where he received an education doctorate degree from North Carolina State Unitersity. They moved to Grand Forks in 1973, and he taught at the University of North Dakota IT Department. He worked most recently for David Burkland farms. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with family at their lake home in Bissitt, MB.

Visitation will be from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., Saturday, April 7, at Amundson Funeral Home, Grand Forks. The funeral service will follow at 3:30 p.m., at the funeral home. 

Anne J. Wenger

March 8, 1939 to March 20, 2018

MONOMONEE FALLS, Wis. - Anne J. Wenger, 79, of Wisconsin, former resident of Winamac, passed away Tuesday, March 20, at Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie.

She was born March 8, 1939. She was married for 57 years to Stanley Wenger. He survives.

Also surviving are children Christine, Jennifer, Betsy, Matthew, Mindy and Nathan, and several grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, Monday March 26, at the Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral Home, Monomonee Falls. The funeral service will follow at 12 noon. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Milwaukee.

Memorial donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation or to the Juvenile Diabetes Association.

Herbert F. DePoy

May 18, 1931 to February 25, 2018

NORTH JUDSON - Herbert Francis DePoy, Sr., 86, died Sunday, Feb. 25, at Pulaski Healthcare Center, Winamac.

He was born May 18, 1931 in Winamac, to the late Raymond and Hazel (Good) DePoy. On Oct. 16, 1954 in Ohio, he married Mary K. (Zellers) DePoy. They were married 52 years.

He is survived by his son Herbert F. Jr. (Kathy) DePoy of New Braunfels, TX; two daughters, Hazel White of North Judson and Meda (John) Lindley of Knoxville, TN; daughter-in-law Linda (Pierce) DePoy; five brothers, 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, his son William R. DePoy, his son-in-law Jimmy White, his grandson, Karl DePoy, and three sisters.

Mr. DePoy was a U.S. Army veteran and served in Japan during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Post 92, North Judson. He retired from MPI Knox; however, he spent the majority of his career at Indiana General in Valparaiso. His hard work was evident, but he will be most remembered by his hobbies, which included mushroom hunting, fishing, gardening, farming, and his overall appreciation of nature.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. (CT), Sunday, March 4, at O'Donnell Funeral Home,  North Judson. The funeral service will follow at 5 p.m. (CT).

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Suzanne Mitross

November 23, 1949 to February 26, 2018

NORTH JUDSON - Suzanne Mitross, 67 of Winamac, passed away Monday, Feb. 26, at her home, peacefully and surrounded by her family.

Shewas born Nov. 23, 1949 in Kouts, to the late Orie and Helen Hill Reinhardt. She grew up in Kouts, until the family moved in 1966 to the farm in North Judson. She graduated in 1968 from North Judson San-Pierre High School.
She married Harry A. Mitross Jr. who preceded her in death on Sept. 22, 2000.

She is survived by son Simon (Amanda) Mitross, Winamac; grandchildren Nathan and Jacob Mitross, Winamac; sisters Helen Miller, DeMotte, Shirley Kniefel (Owen Summers), Valparaiso, Vera (Wesley) Birky, Valparaiso, Norma (Ronald) Finney, Valparaiso, Wanda Reinhardt, North Judson, Diane (Dennis) Kucinski, Valparaiso, Lois Howe, Valparaiso, and Pam Reinhardt (Keith Tosseng), Dyer; brothers Vernon "Bud" (Verlyn) Reinhardt, Arizona, and Donald (Darlene) Reinhardt, North Judson.

Suzannewas proceeded in death by brother Dale Reinhardt, sisters Verna "Cookie" Greer, and Mary K. Reinhardt.

Mrs. Mitross and her husbandlived in Lake Station for many years, then moved to Winamac in the 1980s to be closer to their family. She worked at Our Lady of Holy Cross, in San Pierre for many years. Later she continued her passion at Pulaski Health Care in Winamac where she dedicated herself to taking care of others, making people happy and making people laugh with her witty sense of humor. She was a proud grandmother. She enjoyed shopping, eating out, and most of all spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 noon (CT), Friday, March 2, at O'Donnell Funeral Home, North Judson. The funeral service will follow at 12 noon. A graveside service will be at San Pierre Cemetery. Officiating at the service will be Pastor Cunningham of St. Peters Lutheran Church of North Judson. Doug Neilson of North Judson will be the vocalist.

Richard J. Agee

September 17, 1943 to February 25, 2018

MONTICELLO - Richard J. Agee, Sr., 74, of Winamac, passed away at 11 a.m., Sunday, Feb. 25, at Franciscan Health Lafayette East.

He was born Sept. 17, 1943 in Kentucky, to the late Willie F. and Julia M.(Bailey) Agee. On May 31, 1963 he married Delores J. Cottrell in Winamac, and she survives.

He is also survived by a daughter, Tammy (Buck) Mathias of Buffalo; son, Richard (Darlene) Agee Jr. of Winamac; two brothers, Eardon Agee of North Judson and Jed (Dorothy) Agee of FL; four sisters, Peggy (Jerry) Mays of Winamac, Bonnie (Tom) Zimmerman of North Judson, Mae Agee of Winamac and Lorsie (Jimmie) Stone of North Judson; six grandchildren, Kyle (Ashlyn) Stephens, Nathan (Lexi) Stephens, Richard Agee III, Heather Agee, Austin Agee and Dalton Agee; and eight great grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Riley Agee and two sisters, Dorothy Rose and Arlette Heise.

Mr. Agee worked at Hites Hardwood sawmill until his retirement. He loved to work on tractors, play games on the computer and go fishing. His wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his life. He was a wonderful family man.

The family will host a memorial service at 1 p.m., Saturday, March 3, at the Buffalo Fire Station.

Fred C. Dick

March 28, 1939 to March 28, 2018

NORTH JUDSON - Fred Clay Dick, Age 79, of Winamac, passed away Wednesday, March 28, iat his home.

He was born March 28, 1939 in Kingbee, KY to Chester and Bertha (Wesley) Dick. On Sept. 26, 1958 he married Elsie Esther Spornic in Somerset, KY.

He is survived by four daughters, Martha Ann Merry, Rosemary Ellen Gable, Judy Leann Flory and Pamela Sue Memmer. Also surviving is one sister, Enola Grace Phelps, one brother Loyd Dick, nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Mr. Dick retired as a welder at Inland Steel.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. (CT), Monday, April 2, with a memorial service following at 5 p.m., at the O'Donnell Funeral Home, Inc., North Judson.

Memorial donations may be given to the donor's choice or to be used according to the wishes of the family.
