WINAMAC - Harold W. Budd, 91, of Goshen (a life-long resident of Pulaski County), passed away at 10:05 p.m., Thursday, May 24, Goshen Hospital.

He was born Sept. 25, 1926 in Pulaski to the late Schuyler and Nelle Herrick Budd. He was a 1945 graduate of Pulaski High School. He served in the U.S. Army at the end of World War II and was a member of the Winamac American Legion. On March 31, 1957, he married Ruth F. Smith at the Methodist Church in Winamac. She survives.

Mr. Budd farmed and sold insurance until 1968 when he quit farming to devote himself to the insurance agency. He retired in 2004 after a successful career. He was a former 4-H club leader and overall supporter of local 4-H programs. He was a longtime member and past-president of the Winamac Kiwanis Club and a member of the Pulaski County Historical Society. He was a lifelong member of the Pulaski Presbyterian Church, where he served numerous years as an elder. Music was his passion and a talent. He served as the church choir director for 47 years and was involved with numerous music groups including the Logansport Iron Horseman Barbershop Chorus. Another special talent was his ability to create beautiful cottonwood bark carvings. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, June 1, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac (with a Kiwanis memorial service at 8 p.m.); and from 10 to 11 a.m., Saturday, June 2, at First United Methodist Church, Winamac. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 2, at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Dave Marty officiating. Burial will be at McKinley Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Winamac. The American Legion and VFW will conduct military graveside services.
