WINAMAC - Ronald Eugene “Ron” Jelinek Sr., 84, of Winamac, passed away Friday, Jan. 21, at his home.

He was born Sept. 4, 1937 in Gary, to the late James Jr. and Helen Holtzman Jelinek. He served in the U.S. Air Force. He married Mary Ann Grant. She survives.

Mr. Jelinek worked many years as a union laborer in the steel mills. He was an avid fisherman and strong supporter of President Donald Trump.

Burial will be at 2 p.m., Friday, March 4, at Winamac Cemetery in Winamac. The American Legion and VFW will conduct military graveside services.

Memorial donations may be made to the Panhandle Pathway (to connect the state park to the Town of Winamac).
