LAFAYETTE - Barbara Jean Hatfield Sego, 73, Lafayette, died on Wednesday, July 13, at St. Elizabeth Central Hospital.

Born on October 7, 1937 in Winamac, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Agnes Jordan Hatfield. She married Larry I. Hamilton and he preceded her in death. She married Robert E. Sego, Sr. on Jan. 4, 1992 and he survives.

Also surviving is a son, James I. Hamilton (Jilaine) of Panama City Beach, FL; a daughter, Rebecca K. Lawson (Glenn) of Wingate; a step-son, Robert Sego, Jr. of Lafayette; four step-daughters, Paula Leill (John) of Lafayette, Debra Sego-Castenda of Elk Grove, CA, Karen Moore (Dean) of Frankfort, and Cindy Yates (Steve) of Lafayette; and a sister, Mary Rife of Winamac. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Amber Pierce and Anthony Hamilton.

Mrs. Sego was a 1955 graduate of Winamac High School and a graduate of St. Elizabeth Nursing School. She was a registered nurse in obstetrics at St. Elizabeth Hospital for 27 years. She retired in 1997. She was a member of St. Elizabeth alumni and enjoyed meeting with the St. Elizabeth OB Breakfast Retirement Group, sewing and gardening.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, at Hippensteel Funeral Home, Lafayette. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Saturday (July 16), at Wea Ridge Baptist Church with Pastor Dan Sager officiating. Burial will follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Wea Ridge Baptist Church.
