Cecil R. Wireman

October 16, 1940 to July 18, 2021

MEDARYVILLE - Cecil Ray Wireman, 80, of Medaryville, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 18, at Parkview Haven Retirement Home in Francesville.

He was born Oct. 16, 1940 in Rensselaer. He graduated from Wheatfield High School in 1959. On Feb. 28, 1981, he married Shelia Burns at the Medaryville Christian Church. She passed away July 16, 2020.

Mr. Wireman retired from Bethlehem Steel where he worked many years as a crane operator. He was a kind and generous man who was known to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He often gave people rides to their doctor’s appointments, the grocery store, or wherever they needed to go. He knew everyone and everyone knew him. Years ago, he was known as the “mayor of Medaryville.” He enjoyed going to flea markets and was a collector of many things. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Monday, July 26, at Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel in Medaryville. The funeral service will at 10 a.m., Tuesday, July 27, at the funeral home with Pastor Tom Dewlen officiating. Burial will be at White Post Cemetery in Medaryville.

Memorial donations may be made to The West Central Backpack Pantry or Medaryville Assembly of God Church or United Baptist Church of Gilliam Township (Bailey’s Corner Church).
