Ronald D. Heiny

May 28, 1943 to January 25, 2021

MEDARYVILLE - Ronald D. Heiny, 77, of Robinson, IL (formerly of Sullivan, IN) passed away Monday, Jan. 25, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes.

He was born May 28, 1943, to Eugene and Esther Conwell Heiny, both of whom preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Christine; stepsons, Scott and Lynda Dean and Eric and Stephanie Dean; grandchildren, Hannah, Scotty, Hailey, Aaron, Isaac, Emma, and Anna; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Also surviving are his sisters, Saundra Green of Lafayette and Judy (Ron) Sheridan of Carmel; and a brother, Bob (Lori) Heiny of Cedar Lake.

He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Unabelle; step-father, Russell Owen; and brother-in-law, Max Green.

Mr. Heiny grew up in the White County area, graduating from high school in 1961. He and his first wife moved to Sullivan in 1978. He was vice president at Sullivan State Bank and later, became the owner of American Mortgage. He and wife Chris have lived in Robinson for the past five years. He was of the Christian faith. He belonged to the American Legion and Sullivan Elks. He loved his family, Indiana State and IU basketball, Chicago White Sox, Indianapolis Colts, and running beagles. But, nothing compared to the love he had for his grandkids. He was a friend to many and kindhearted to all.

A celebration of life event will be held at a later date. Private burial will be at Independence Cemetery in Medaryville. The American Legion will conduct military graveside services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Robinson High School softball or volleyball programs which he dearly loved (2000 N. Cross, Robinson, IL 62454), or a charity of the donor’s choice.
