Ray Kroft

May 1, 1926 to May 24, 2011

MEDARYVILLE - Ray H. Kroft, 85, Medaryville, passed away at 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 24, at Wintersong Village, Knox.

He was born May 1, 1926, in Medaryville, to the late George and Grace Tetzloff Kroft. He married Joan Ellis on Sept. 24, 1954, in Boone Grove. She survives.

Mr. Kroft was a member of St. John United Church of Christ, Medaryville, and the Medaryville Lion's Club.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II and was discharged as a staff sargent. He earned a Combat Infantry Badge and a Bronze Star. He was a member of the Medaryville American Legion.

Mr. Kroft  was member of the Pulaski County Council for 25 years and was a former president of the Council. He also was a member of the Kankakee-Iroquios Regional Planning Commission, and Pulaski Memorial Hopital Foundation board of trustees He was named a Sagamore of the Wabash by Gov. Frank O'Bannon.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, at Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel, Medaryville. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Saturday (May 28), at the funeral home with Bill McNabney officiating. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Medaryville. The American Legion will conduct military graveside services.
