Rev. Carl Fitchett
June 8, 1936 to Oct. 12, 2019
NORTH JUDSON - Reverend Carl Fitchett, 83, passed peacefully in his sleep Sunday, Oct. 12, at Pulaski Health Care Center in Winamac.
He was born June 8, 1936, in Detroit, to George Arthur and Dorothy L Erkfitz Fitchett. He had three brothers, Ervin Fitchett and Thomas (Darlene) Fitchett who preceded him in death, and Brian (Sharon) Fitchett, of Westland, MI. On Aug. 24, 1958 he married Aletha A. Arney who also preceded him in death in 2006.
He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Pamelea Horon Fitchett, his four children, Cinthia (Donnie) Bridges, Christina Trusty, Carla (Dan) Rosen and Craig (Tina) Fitchett, a step-daughter, Josephine (Terry) Allee, eight grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and four step- great-grandchildren.
Over the years Rev. Fitchett wore many hats, from his early years as a teacher and principal to a brief career with Thrivent, then known as AAL. Later in life he graduated from Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, and spent over 40 years serving as pastor for several congregations including Denham, Wheatfield and LaPorte.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. (CT), Friday, Oct. 18, at O’Donnell Funeral Home, North Judson. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. (CT), Saturday, Oct. 19, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in North Judson; with an additional viewing at 10 a.m., prior to the service. Burial will be at St. Paul Lutheran Church cemetery in Denham, followed by post-funeral celebration of life in the St. Paul reception hall.
