Douglas P. Kruzick

January 16, 1945 to June 12, 2019

WINAMAC - Douglas Phillip Kruzick, 74, of Winamac, passed away Wednesday, June 12, at his home.

He was born Jan. 16, 1945 in Winamac to the late Phillip H. and Pauline Jane Plotner Kruzick. In 1963, he left Winamac High School to join the U.S. Navy. He served four years on an aircraft carrier during the Vietnam War.

He is survived by:

Dennis Scott (Tammy) Kruzick, Menifee, CA, Son 
2 Grandchildren: Kennedy and Kash 
Jerry Jayne Winters, Winamac, Sister 
Harry Michael "Mic" (Charlene) Kruzick Fultondale, AL, Brother 
Mary Ellen (Byrl) Palmer, Winamac, Sister 
Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins

Preceded in death by: 
2 Infant Brothers 

Mr. Kruzick was a talented civil engineer, having worked for the Winamac Construction Co. and retiring from Fluor Daniel Co. Most notably, he worked on the Alaskan Pipeline and the U.S. 35 bridge south of Winamac, as well as constructing many silos in the area. He volunteered his engineering skills in the design of the Winamac Industrial Park and advocated for the redesign of curbs in town for handicap accessibility.

He was a proud lifetime member of the Winamac VFW Post #1728 and Winamac FOE #2580. He loved his country and continued his service as a member of the local honor guard. He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed woodworking. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and always greeted others with a smile. He was a proud father and grandfather. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A graveside service will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 3, at Winamac Cemetery, Winamac, with Rev. Nelda Seger officiating. Burial will be at Winamac Cemetery. The American Legion and VFW will conduct military graveside services.
