Joan M. Henry

November 19, 1925 to February 23, 2019

WINAMAC - Joan Mabel Skillen Henry, 93, of Winamac, passed away at 12:15 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 23, at Pulaski Health Care Center,  Winamac.

She was born Nov. 19, 1925 on the family farm in Star City, to the late Charles E. and Violet F. Metz Skillen. On Feb.27, 1946 she married Byron Kennedy Henry. He died Dec. 4, 2009.

Great Grandchildren: Malachi Henry, Ezra Henry, Jonah Henry, Naomi Henry, Emerson Henry, Gibson Henry, Claire Henry, Kennady Scott, 
Dylan Scott, Elliot Shidler, Molly Maltese, Stephen Maltese, and Violet Conklin.

As a young girl, Mrs. Henry workedd and played on the family farm in Star City. She retired from First Union Bank in Winamac in 1988. She was a member of Winamac Presbyterian Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was also a past member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She enjoyed traveling domestically and abroad. She and her husband Byron shared occasional fishing trips. Attending concerts, musicals and shows was a favorite pastime. She compiled family history and genealogy. She was fashion conscious and loved to shop. She especially enjoyed eating chocolate. She liked antiques, glassware and hot cocoa. Joan will be remembered for her sweat nature and beaming smile.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Feb.  26, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 27, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac, with Rev. Ruby Kleymann officiating. Burial will be at Winamac Cemetery, Winamac.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Legion Auxiliary or the Winamac Presbyterian Church.
