Nelda M. Manning-Garrett

August 9, 1928 to February 4, 2019

WINAMAC - Nelda M. Manning-Garrett, 90, of Royal Center, passed away Monday, Feb. 4, at her home.

She was born Aug. 9, 1928 in Francesville, to the late Herman George and Malinda Louise Koebcke Onken. She was a 1946 graduate of Francesville High School. On Dec. 27, 1950, she married Robert Dale Manning. He passed away Dec. 12, 1970. On Dec. 9, 1975, she married Ronald Ward Garrett. He survives.

Mrs. Manning-Garrett was a member of St. James Salem United Church of Christ in Francesville. She had formerly worked as a cook at Medaryville High School and West Central High School. She was the former owner of Matilda's restaurant in Winamac, and retired from Sander's Deli in 2003. She enjoyed collecting recipes as well as cooking and baking. She also enjoyed collecting bunnies. She loved her family very much, especially spending time with her granddaughter (Kelly) and great grandchildren (Bethany and Travis). She was anticipating the birth of her first great-great-grandchild (Baby Rapacki). She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12 noon, Thursday, Feb. 7, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. The funeral service will follow at 12 noon (Thursday), at the funeral home with Rev. David Broad officiating. Private burial will be at Roseland Cemetery, Francesville.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.
