Virgil R. Plowman
April 9, 1928 to June 18, 2018
WINAMAC - Virgil R. Plowman, 90, of Winamac, passed away at 4:55 p.m., Monday, June 18, at Pulaski Memorial Hospital, Winamac.
He was born April 9, 1928 in Wichita Falls, TX to the late William Walter and Elsie Geneva Thompson Plowman. On Dec. 11, 1945, he married Doris Jean Keller-Horton in Piggott, AR. In 1980, the couple moved to Winamac. She passed away Oct. 4, 2008. They were married for 62 years.

Mr. Plowman was a retired boilermaker and a proud member and past vice president of the Boilermakers Union Local #374 in Hammond. He was instrumental in helping form the credit union for the Boilermakers Local. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially gardening, mowing and walking through the park donning his "Winamac Tuxedo" (aka bib overalls). He was an avid story teller and had a quick wit. He loved his family very much, especially spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be sadly missed.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, June 22, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac; and one hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral home. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 23, at the funeral home with Pastor Heath Hiatt officiating. Mr. Plowman will be laid to rest with his wife at Black Pond Cemetery, Oregon County, MO.
