Diane J. Booknis

September 30, 1941 to May 4, 2018

WINAMAC - Diane Joyce Booknis, 76, of Fishers (formerly of Winamac), passed away at 9:58 p.m., Friday, May 4, at Allisonville Meadows, Fishers.

She was born Sept. 30, 1941 in Knox, to the late Frederick and Viola E. Runyon Schultz. She was a graduate of Knox High School. On May 28, 1960, she married Robert E. "Bob" Booknis in Winamac. Together they owned and operated Booky's Bait and Tackle in Winamac for over 35 years. He preceded her in death.

She is survived by:

Randall J. (fiance: Susan Clemons) Booknis, Indianapolis, Son 
4 Grandchildren: Taylor, Meghan, Tate and Kaylee 
Dolores Jones, Sister

Several Nieces and Nephews

Mrs. Booknis was a devoted member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Ladies of Charity and Christian Mothers. She was a member of the Winamac Eagle's Auxiliary. She enjoyed crafting and was very artistic. She was a self-taught accountant. She especially enjoyed living on the Tippecanoe River and "outfishing" Bob. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She enjoyed hosting her family, especially at the holidays. She will be sadly missed.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m., Thursday, May 10, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. The rosary will be recited at 2:30 p.m., and a scriptural wake service will be at 7 p.m., followed by Christian Mother's and Ladies of Charity Services. A funeral mass will be at 10 a.m., Friday, May 11, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Winamac, with Rev. Leroy Kinnaman officiating. Burial will be at St. Peter's Cemetery, Winamac.

Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or St. Peter's Catholic Church.
