Herbert F. DePoy
May 18, 1931 to February 25, 2018
NORTH JUDSON - Herbert Francis DePoy, Sr., 86, died Sunday, Feb. 25, at Pulaski Healthcare Center, Winamac.
He was born May 18, 1931 in Winamac, to the late Raymond and Hazel (Good) DePoy. On Oct. 16, 1954 in Ohio, he married Mary K. (Zellers) DePoy. They were married 52 years.
He is survived by his son Herbert F. Jr. (Kathy) DePoy of New Braunfels, TX; two daughters, Hazel White of North Judson and Meda (John) Lindley of Knoxville, TN; daughter-in-law Linda (Pierce) DePoy; five brothers, 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, his son William R. DePoy, his son-in-law Jimmy White, his grandson, Karl DePoy, and three sisters.
Mr. DePoy was a U.S. Army veteran and served in Japan during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Post 92, North Judson. He retired from MPI Knox; however, he spent the majority of his career at Indiana General in Valparaiso. His hard work was evident, but he will be most remembered by his hobbies, which included mushroom hunting, fishing, gardening, farming, and his overall appreciation of nature.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. (CT), Sunday, March 4, at O'Donnell Funeral Home, North Judson. The funeral service will follow at 5 p.m. (CT).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
