WINAMAC - Hilbert Lewis "Lewie" Appel, 81, of Denton, TX passed away Thursday, June 22, in Denton.

He was born May 2, 1936 in Winamac, to the late Otto K. Sr. and Nellie Disinger Appel.

He is survived by: 
Donald Appel, Hebron, Brother 
Several Nieces and Nephews

Preceded in death by: 
Katherine Whybrew, Sister 
Marylou Cramer, Sister 
Otto K. Appel, Jr., Brother 
Marian Appel, Brother 
Lois Alene Appel, Infant Sister

Mr. Appel served as an MP in the U.S. Army during Vietnam and worked as a truck driver most of his life. He was a member of Hickory Creek Baptist Church in Denton, TX where he had previously served as a deacon.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, June 28, at McKinley Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Winamac, with Pastor Raymond Castro officiating. Burial will be at McKinley Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The American Legion and VFW will conduct a military graveside service.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Frain Mortuary, Winamac.
