Algot Olson
August 31, 1935 to April 13, 2016
FRANCESVILLE - Algot "Al" Olson, 80, of Francesville passed away, holding the hand of his wife, Wednesday, April 13, at Allisonville Meadows, Indianapolis.
He was born Aug. 31, 1935 in Kouts, to the late Louie and Agnes Olson. Hemarried Virginia Logan in 1958 in Tuscola, Ill. They were married for 57 years.
He is survived by daughters Dawn (Randy) Miller of Middlebury, Alicia (Marc) McClure of Indianapolis, and son Eric (Traci) Olson of Abingdon, Md.; his sister Lillian Dedman and brother Glenn (Tina) Olson; his grandchildren Erica (James), Zachary (Emiline), Hannah, Alexis, Brianna, Olivia, Karisse, Carli, Christian, Kyle; his great-grandchildren Doris, Nathanael, Josiah, Ruth; and his nieces and nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by siblings Edna, Agnes and Harold.
Mr. Olson grew up in Kouts and graduated from Kouts High School in 1953. After high school, he attended Bible college at Lincoln Christian University in Lincoln, Ill. where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in preaching. He started Francesville Tire Company in the early 1960s and Blue Sea Blueberries in the early 1970s. He grew and sold landscape trees for over 30 years and Blue Sea Blueberries through the 2015 season. Hewas a member of Medaryville Christian Church, where he served in various capacities for over 50 years. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, his kids, his grandkids and great-grandkids, as well as gardening. He received certification in the Master Gardeners program of Indiana.
A funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, April 17, at Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel, Francesville. The family will greet friends and relatives prior to the service, beginning at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Roseland Cemetery, Francesville.
