Frederick W. Fishtorn

March 20, 1979 to November 8, 2015

WINAMAC - Frederick W. "Fred" Fishtorn, 36, of Winamac, passed away Sunday, Nov. 8.

He was born on March 20, 1979 in Hammond, to Dale and Virginia Pugh Fishtorn. He married Jennifer M. Young on May 15, 2006 in Rochester. She survives.

After graduating from Winamac High School in 1998, Mr. Fishtorn joined the U.S. Army. He served in the Iraq War. He was a member of the Winamac VFW Post #1728. He was a member of the Star City Volunteer Fire Department. He was a man of many talents. He had been a jailer and jail commander at the Pulaski County Jail, he had worked for Hoover Construction in Star City, as well as Magnetation LLC in Reynolds, and he was currently employed as a superintendent at HTH Companies in Lafayette. He enjoyed fishing and mushroom hunting. He loved his family very much, and will be dearly missed.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m., (Saturday, Nov. 14), at the funeral home with Chaplain Maj. Don Nedza, U.S. Army Ret. officiating. Full military honors will be provided at the funeral home by the American Legion and VFW.

At Mr. Fishtorn’s request, he will be cremated following services and laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family requests that memorial donations be given to the funeral home to help with final expenses.
