Darl G. Knebel

September 8, 1929 to November 9, 2015

WINAMAC - Darl Gene Knebel, 86, of Ft. Myers, FL, formerly of Winamac, passed away at 6:30 p.m., Monday, Nov. 9, in Ft. Myers. 

He was born in Star City, on Sept. 8, 1929 to Floyd and Opal Blinn Knebel. He married married Virginia Lee Brown, his high school sweetheart, on June 26, 1949. She survives. They celebrated 66 years together.

He is survived by one daughter, Marsha (Melvin) Good of Star City, and two sons. Darwin (Susan) Knebel of Winamac, and Kevin (Tina) Knebel of Loxahatchee, FL. Five grandchildren, Brian (Michelle) Good, Scott (Susan) Good, Matthew (Trisha) Knebel, Eric (Jennifer) Knebel and Kelsey (Jonathan) Dickinson, nine great-grandchildren, Samuel, Sarah, and Grace Good, Isabelle and Isaac Good, and Carsen and Caden Knebel and Harper Knebel, and Cruz Dickinson .

Also surviving are three brothers, Everett Knebel, Winamac, Harold Knebel, Belton, MO, and William Knebel, Stauton, VA.

Preceding him in death were his parents and brother, Jim Knebel

Mr. Knebel graduated from Star City, High School in 1947. He retired as a Winamac auto dealer after 30 years. He then enjoyed 15 years of part time work at Publix in Florida. Over his years he enjoyed flying his airplane, square dancing with his bride and spending time with family and friends. He supported both of his home churches in many leadership roles as well as the Masons, town and community boards and other social clubs. He served for eight years as Winamac Town Board president.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 25, at the First United Methodist Church in Winamac; with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at McKinley Memorial Gardens in Winamac.I
