Lloyd D. Dickinson

March 5, 1941 to October 28, 2015

FRANCESVILLE - Lloyd Duane Dickinson, 74, of Francesville (formerly of Medaryville), died at 5:15 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 28, at Franciscan Health, Rensselaer after courageously battling illness over the last three years.

He was born March 5, 1941 in Rensselaer to the late Lloyd E. and Dorothy A. Moore Dickinson.

Cindy Sue Dickinson (Rick) Rhodenbaugh, Bloomington, Daughter
Rachel Smidler (Randy) Brick, Medaryville, Daughter
6 Grandchildren: Jamie, Miranda, Kevin, Angela, Ricky, and Hunter
Numerous Great Grandchildren
Martha Lou (Fritz) Hershman, Rensselaer, Sister
Sandra Kay Tatlock, Francesville, Sister
Norma Jean DeWitt Howard, Wheatfield, Significant Other

Mr. Dickinson graduated from Medaryville High School in 1959 where he was a star athlete and proud to be a Black Horse. He served two years in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a 50-year member of the American Legion and a proud member of the 40 & 8. He faithfully participated in military honors services for his fellow veterans. He and his former wife Susie maintained a friendship throughout the years. He worked at Ford Motor Co. Stamping Plant in East Chicago for 30 years before retiring as a forklift operator in 1990. He was a proud member of the UAW. 

Mr. Dickinson was an avid golfer and a longtime member of Moss Creek Golf Club. He enjoyed playing cards and was also a race fan and basketball fanatic. He enjoyed selling Hoosier Basketball Magazines all over the state of Indiana. He also enjoyed trips to South Dakota with Norma Jean, who throughout his illness remained a faithful caregiver. He attended First Baptist Church of Francesville. He recently received Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour. He loved his family very much, especially watching his grandsons play sports. He will be dearly missed.

Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m., Sunday; and from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday, at Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel, Francesville. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m., (Monday, Nov. 2,) at the funeral home with Pastors Dennis Gutwein and Thomas Dewlen officiating. Burial will be at White Post Cemetery, Medaryville. The American Legion will conduct military graveside Service.

Memorial donations may be given to the Francesville American Legion.
