John Schwemin

June 1, 1929 to August 31, 2015

WINAMAC - John W. Schwemin, 86, Winamac, passed away at 8:40 p.m., Monday, Aug. 31, at Hickory Creek, Winamac. 

He was born June 1, 1929, in Chicago, to the late John E. and Agnes Biskupski Schwemin. He married Joanne Anderson on Sept. 5, 1952, in Chicago. She passed away Sept. 5, 1994. He then married Phoebe G. Myers on June 20, 1995, in Plymouth. She survives.

Mr. Schwemin was a member of the Bass Lake Lions Club, and St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Knox. He was a former resident of Chicago, moving to Bass Lake in 1993 and then to Winamac in 2013. He was a retired business agent for the Carpenter's Union. He enjoyed remodeling and working on houses.

Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m., Friday, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. A funeral mass will follow at 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 4, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Winamac, with Rev. Leroy Kinnaman officiating. Burial will be Crown Hill Cemetery, Knox. Military graveside services will be conducted.

Memorial donations may be given to Gentiva Hospice, Rochester.
