Joseph E. Scott

March 27, 1928 to July 9, 2015

WINAMAC - Joseph E. Scott, 87, Winamac, passed away at 12:18 p.m., Thursday, July 9, at Pulaski Health Care Center, Winamac.

He was born March 27, 1928, in Columbia City, to Archie A. and Ruth A. Beers Scott. He first married Helen Louise Ludwick on Feb. 8, 1951,  at Ormas, IN. She passed away Dec. 22, 1964. He then married Marilyn W. Wolfe Holley on June 9, 1974, at Chesterton. She passed away Feb. 14, 1997.

Mr. Scott was a former resident of Walkerton, moving to Winamac in 1981. He also resided in Atmore, AL. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Grand Trunk Western Railroad. He also was a carpenter and built five homes for his family to live. After his retirement, he discovered "rock hounding" (gems and minerals) and learned how to make jewelry. He did many presentations to schools and groups. He also taught faceting. He was a member of the American Legion, Midwest Faceter's Society, Faceter Forum Society, Panhandle Gem & Mineral Society, and the Peru Gem & Mineral Society.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, Tuesday, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. The funeral service will follow at 12 noon (Tuesday, July 14), at the funeral home with Rev. Nelda Seger officiating. A graveside service and burial will be  at 3 p.m., Tuesday in Sparta Cemetery, Kimmell, IN.

Memorial donations may be given to Riley Children's Hospital.
