Lowell R. Lindsey
July 28, 1936 to July 3, 2015
GRIFFITH - Lowell R. Lindsey, 78, of Hobart, formerly of Winamac, Lake of Four Seasons and Griffith, passed away Friday, July 3, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born July 28, 1936. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 57 years, Joyce White Lindsey
Also surviving are children Richard (Sandy) Lindsey of Highland; Bunnie Lindsey (Harry Jaconis) of Naperville, IL; Gary (Lori) Lindsey of Hobart. Grandchildren Jeremy (Natalie) Halton; Evie Gere (Fiancé Cameron Lynch), Kimberly (Danny) Labarge, Kayla Lindsey (Fiancé Keenan Cleary), Nicholas Lindsey, Ryan Butler, Taylor Jaconis, Luke Jaconis, Jacob Lindsey and Connor Lindsey. Great grandchildren Collin and Julia Gere, Scarlet and Elias Halton. Sister Agnes “Bonnie” Van Dyke, Brother Norman (Anita) Lindsey, and “Little Brother” Ed (Jan) Hoover; plus numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his father and step-mother Clarence and Beulah Lindsey, and by his mother and step-father, Gertrude and Jake Barnes.
Mr. Lindsey was a member of First Church of the Nazarene in Highland. He was a former member of the Winamac Church of the Nazarene and the Munster First Church of God. He retired from Lever Brothers in 1991 after 33 years of service. He enjoyed volunteering at church and in his community, woodworking, fishing, and above all, he was devoted to his family and friends. He encouraged others to donate blood and give “the gift of Life” to others. He had, and shared, many fond memories of playing Santa for many children over the years. He was also a member of the Masters of Harmony Barbershop Men’s Chorus.
Friends may meet with the family on Wednesday, July 8, from 3 to 8 p.m. (CT), at White Funeral Home, located at 921 W. 45th Ave., Griffith. The funeral service will be at 11: a.m. (CT), Thursday July 9, at First Church of Nazarene in Highland, located at 9330 Kennedy Ave., Highland with Pastor Ron Richmond officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens in Schererville
