Elizabeth Howat

March 31, 1922 to April 19, 2015

FRANCESVILLE - Elizabeth "Betty" Howat, 93, of Francesville, passed away at 8:36 a.m., Sunday, April 19. at Pulaski Memorial Hospital, Winamac.

She was born March 31, 1922 in Ligonier, to the late Jesse and Helen Stage Squires. On April 30, 1944, she married Thomas Engle Howat in Wolcott. He passed away Jan. 29, 1983.

Mrs. Howat received a masters degree in elementary education from Indiana University. She was an elementary school teacher at Gilliam School and later at West Central Elementary School. She retired in 1987. She was a life long member of the First United Methodist Church in Francesville where she played the piano for many years. Throughout the years, she supported her children in 4-H. She enjoyed gardening, canning, and sewing. She was a former member of the Jasper County Hospital Auxiliary. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, at Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel, Francesville. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 25, at the funeral home with Pastor Hal Cohn officiating. Burial will be at Roseland Cemetery, Francesville.
