Essie L. Shepherd

June 30, 1921 to April 14, 2015

WINAMAC - Essie L. Shepherd, 93, of Plymouth, formerly of Winamac, passed away at 8:22 p.m., Tuesday, April 14,  at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth, 

She was born June 30, 1921, in Royalton, KY, to the late Bruce Sr. and Pearl Allen Stephens. She married William F. Shepherd on May 30, 1942 in Royalton, KY. He passed away Sept. 26, 2001.

Mrs. Shepherd was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Knox. She attended the Church of the Heartland in Plymouth for the last nine years. She was a former elementary school teacher, but was also a homemaker, loving wife and mother for most of her life. She and her husband owned Bill Shepherd Chevy-Buick in Winamac for many years, retiring in 1980. She and Bill enjoyed more than 30 years wintering in Sarsota, Fla. Essie's joy in life was loving and serving her God and family She will be sadly missed.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac; and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 18, at Calvary Baptist Church, Knox, with Rev. Rodney Rudd and Pastor Heath Hiatt officiating. Burial will be at McKinley Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Winamac.

Memorial donations may be given to Calvary Baptist Church Knox, the Church of the Heartland Plymouth, or the Pulaski County Community Foundation.
