May 16, 1920 to April 10, 2015

REMINGTON - Eileen M. Peters, 94, of Wheatfield, formerly of Remington, passed away at 5:12 p.m., Friday, April 10, at St. Elizabeth East in Lafayette.

She was born May 16, 1920 in Wolcott to the late Amos and Lena (Bergeron) Mathew. She married Maurice Peters on Nov. 22, 1945 in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Remington. He preceded her in death on Dec. 18, 1998.

Surviving are two sons Mike Peters of Wabash, and Greg Peters (Wife: Amy) of Pittsburgh; a brother, Marvin Mathew of Wolcott and a sister-in-law Catherine Nagele of Sheldon, IL. Eileen loved spending time with her family, especially her 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Also preceding her in death were two sisters, Marion Mullins and Rosella Nowviskie and a brother, Virgil Mathew.

Mrs. Peters was a 1939 graduate of Wolcott High School. She also was a graduate of business college. She worked as a bookkeeper for Siemens Insurance Agency in Medaryville for many years until retiring. She was a longtime member of St. Henry Parish in Medaryville and former member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Remington.

Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of funeral mass at 11 a.m. Monday, April 13, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Remington; Rev. Paul Hudson will officiate. Interment to follow in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.

A devout Catholic, memorials may be made in her name to the Catholic charity of the donor’s choice.
