WINAMAC - Genevieve M. Skillen, 93, Peru, formerly of Star City, passed away at 10:30 p.m., Monday, April 6, in Blair Ridge Health Campus, Peru. 

She was born Aug. 5, 1921, in Winamac, to the late Edward and Nellie Eleanor Wright Teske. She married Woodrow W. "Tom" Skillen on Oct. 18, 1941, in Winamac. He passed away Jan. 21, 2015.

Mrs. Skillen and her husband farmed in the Star City area most of their lives. She was a member of the Star City United Methodist Church and the New Life Methodist Church, Mexico, IN. The Skillens moved to Peru, in 2005. She was a member of the United Methodist Women and Home-Ec Club. She worked as the secretary and treasurer of the Star City and Winamac schools for 25 years. She enjoyed spending time with her family. She also enjoyed growing flowers and caring for her vegetable garden.
She enjoyed playing Bunco and making crafts.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m., Sunday, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Monday, April 13, at the funeral home with Pastor Sam Polito officiating. Burial will be at McKinley Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Winamac.

Memorial donations may be given to New Life Methodist Church, Mexico, IN, or the Star City United Methodist Church..
