Walter D. Engel
November 1, 1940 to February 14, 2015
WINAMAC - Walter D. Engel, 74, of Knox, passed away at 2:18 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 14, at his residence.
He was born Nov. 1, 1940, in Chicago, to the late Walter Donald and Mary Anna Zabowka Engel. He married Maxine Woods on Feb. 8, 1964, in Knox. She survives.

Mr. Engel was a dairy and grain farmer for over 50 years. He served in the Indiana Army National Guard. He was a member of the Catholic church. He was also a member of the Winamac Athletic Boosters. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports and also spending time with his family. He enjoyed vacationing with his wife. He also enjoyed visiting with his neighbors. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac; and one hour prior to services on Wednesday. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 18, at the funeral home with Rev. Matt Landry officiating. Burial will be at Round Lake Cemetery, Knox. Military graveside services will be conducted.
