Walter J. Fox

VALPARAISO - Walter J. Fox, 93, passed away peacefullySaturday, Dec. 20, at the VNA Hospice Center in Valparaiso.

Born on May 8, 1921, to the late Rudolph and Ella (nee McLochlin) Fox, he was raised on a farm in Star City.

He is survived by children: Connie "Susie" (Bill) Reese of Crown Point, Fred and Dennis Meyers of LaPorte, Brenda (Joe) Straight of New Carlisle, Brian (Jenny) Meyers of Valparaiso, Kandi (Carl) Taskey of Battle Ground, and adopted daughter Mary (David) Conners; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother Art (Sis) Fox of Winamac, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by two loving wives, Irene F. Meyers and C. Joy Meyers (nee Hyatte); five brothers; one sister; one daughter-in-law.

Mr. Fox served in World War II in Germany as an MP. He was a welder by trade but was forced to retire in 1969 due to an injury at his job. He was a member of the VFW Post 1728 in Winamac. He was best known for his high family values and passion for gardening.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, Dec. 26, 20, at Dykes Funeral Home, 2305 N. Campbell St., Valparaiso. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 27, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Union Mills Cemetery, Union Mills.
