Beverly Baker
November 10, 1929 to September 25, 2014
MONTICELLO - Beverly "Jean" Baker, 84, Buffalo, passed away at 11:44 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, at her residence.
She was born on Nov. 10, 1929, in White County, to the late Vernon and Mary Ethel (Calvin) Hinshaw. On Aug. 17, 1949, at the home of Rev. Hall in rural White County, she married Donald R. "Bake" Baker; he passed away on Oct. 14, 2012.
Survivors include daughters, Terri Lee (John) Neff, Winamac and Beverly Ann (Rick) Lucas, Monticello; grandchildren, Robert "Rob / Robbie" (Stephanie) Blackman, Zionsville, Stacy (Michael) White, Star City, Aaron (Catherine) Jachim, Pulaski, Ryan Blackman, Idaville, Justin (Jennifer) Lucas, Idaville, Ricki (Matt) Westerhouse, Buffalo, Nathan (Lisa) Jachim, Winamac, Joe (Aubrie) Lucas, Winamac, Leslie Jachim, Indianapolis, and Brittany (Todd) Toole, Greer, S.C.; 14 great-grandchildren; 13 step-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Shirley (Henry "Hank") Balcomm Lancaster, Pa., Carole (Jerry) Stinson, Monon, Mary Jane Baker, Monticello, Karen Baker, Greenwood, Ida Mabel Hinshaw, Monon, and Evelyn Clemons, Buffalo; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by daughter, Donna J. Blackman; brother, Kenneth Wayne Hinshaw; and brothers-in-law, William "Bill", Earl, Joseph "Joe", and Jerry Baker.
Mrs. Baker had lived in the Buffalo area all her life and was a 1947 graduate of Buffalo High School. She had worked at the former RCA Factory in Monticello for several years, the former Bowsher Grocery Store in Buffalo for several years, and the Buffalo Post Office for several years. She was a member of the Buffalo Christian Church and was very active with in the ladies fellowship.She enjoyed playing Bunco, euchre, and other card games. She especially loved and enjoyed going on outings with her daughters and granddaughters and going to watch her grandchildren and great-grandchildren's activities. She used to enjoy going on fishing trips to Minnesota with her late husband, Bake.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Miller – Roscka Funeral Home of Monticello, and from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Buffalo Christian Church in Buffalo. Celebration of Life Service will be at the Buffalo Christian Church at 10:30 a.m. Monday (Sept. 29) with Tom Haynie of the Buffalo Christian Church officiating. Burial will follow at the Buffalo Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials are given to the Buffalo Christian Church.
