Paul D. Tanner

April 4, 1931 to January 31, 2014

MONTEREY - Paul D. Tanner, 82, Monterey, died Friday, Jan. 31, in Knox.

He was born April 4, 1931, in Monterey, son of the late Paul L Tanner and Velma (Sumner) Tanner. He married Irene Rungle on March 3, 1952, in New York City. She survives.

Also surviving are daughter, Karla (John) Simmons of Plymouth; daughter, Karen (Ron) Ballew of Hallsville, MO; son, Mike (Sandy) Tanner of Osceola; 7 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; sister, Emma Mae Enyeart of Largo, FL. 

He was preceded in death by brother, Allen Tanner, and sisters, Pauline Hall and Mary Tanner. 

Mr. Tanner served in the U.S. Air Force from 1947 to 1956. He was stationed in Germany and the Philippines in the early 1950s. His Army buddies called him "Teletype Tanner" as he worked on teletype machines. He was a lifelong resident and farmer. He worked for Pullman Standard, Bethlehem Steel and Rockwell International. He loved farming, and buying and selling antiques. 

There will be no services at this time.

Braman and Son Funeral Home in Knox is in charge of arrangements.
