Jay L. Bonnell

October. 11, 1939 to December 30, 2013

WINAMAC - Jay L. Bonnell, 74, of Winamac died at 4:45 a.m., Monday, Dec. 30, at St. Frances Hospital, Indianapolis.

He was born Oct. 11, 1939, in Winamac, to the late Sherald Lamar and Verla Glenn Haselby Bonnell. He married Shirley A. Foust Denton on Aug. 25, 1989 in Winamac. She survives.

Mr. Bonnell  was a retired farmer and had worked for the Braun Auto Group in Winamac as the sales manager for many years. He had worked at Hammel Motors in Rochester. He had also worked at S&W Case IH in Winamac. He was a member of Winamac Masonic Lodge 262, South Bend Scottish Rite and the Orak Shrine Temple. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Winamac. He was a co-founding director of the Northern Indiana Power from the Past. He was a former member of the Eastern Pulaski Community Schools Board.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also enjoyed woodworking, restoring antique tractors and using his John Deere compact tractor. He also enjoyed operating the lights for Nightshift Band. He enjoyed "coasting". He was a good family man and will be sadly missed.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m., Friday, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac; and one hour prior to services Saturday. Masonic Services will be held at 7:30 p.m., Friday. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Saturday Jan. 4), at the funeral home with Pastor Chad Ritchie officiating. Burial be at McKinley Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Winamac.

Memorial donations may be given to American Lung Association, American Cancer Fund, Heart Fund or Kidney Foundation.
