James T. Connolly

WINAMAC - James T. Connolly, 80, of 1180 W 500 N, Huntington, formerly of Winamac, passed away at 4:35 p.m., Friday, Sept. 24, at Heritage of Huntington.
He was born May 2, 1930, in Chicago, to the late Thomas and Hazel Fridlund Connolly. He married Claire L. Mars on April 18, 1953, in the Bethel Bible Church, Minneapolis, Minn. She survives.

Mr. Connolly was raised by his Uncle Art and Aunt Alice Olson in Winamac from the age of 9 with their children Charlene (Fritz) and Virginia (Barr). He served in the U.S. Army's 82nd Airborne during the Korean War and was a paratrooper having completed 21 jumps. He farmed in Pulaski County for 58 years. He was a member of Bethel Bible Church, Winamac, Pulaski County Farm Bureau, Winamac Rotary Club, Winamac Investment Club and the John Purdue Club. He and Claire moved to Fort Wayne in July 2006 and then to Huntington to the Heritage of Huntington in May 2007.
Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m., Thursday, at Bethel Bible Church, and one hour prior to services on Friday. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Friday (Oct. 1), in Bethel Bible Church, Winamac, with Rev. Thomas Hopewell and Rev. Ron DeGraff officiating. Burial will be in McKinley Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Winamac. The VFW and American Legion will conduct military graveside services.
Memorial donations may be given to Bethel Bible Church, Winamac, or Parkinsons Awareness Association.
