Floyd L. Barnhouse
March 18, 1923 to October 9, 2013
WINAMAC - Floyd L. Barnhouse, 90, Winamac passed away at 11:40 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 9, at Pulaski Health Care Center, Winamac.
He was born March 18, 1923, in New Boston, IL, to the late Ed and Ruth Hallsted Barnhouse. He married Alberta J. Platt on June 14, 1952, in the Hamlet Presbyterian Church, Mercer County, IL. She passed away on May 29, 2002.

A native of Mercer County, IL, Mr. Barnhouse graduated in 1942 from Keithsburg High School. He also was a 1951 graduate of Western Illinois College. He served in the U.S. Navy as a motor machinist mate third-class during World War II. He was a member of American Legion Post #71. He was a retired farm drainage contractor. He was a member of the Indiana Land Contractors Associaton.
Mr. Barnhouse was also a former soil conservationist and was the first manager of the Winamac office of the U.S. Soil & Water Conservation Service. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Winamac, where he formerly served as a deacon. He enjoyed auto racing, including the Indy 500 and NASCAR. He also enjoyed watching wildlife from the back window of his home.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Saturday, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m., Sunday (Oct. 13), at the funeral home with Rev. Laura Bailey officiating. Burial will be in McKinley Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Winamac. The VFW and American Legion will conduct military graveside services.
Memorial donations may be given to the Alberta J. Barnhouse Memorial Scholarship Fund through the Pulaski County Community Foundation, or to the American Heart Associaton.
