Bertha L. Heltzel
August 6, 1913 to August 8, 2013
FRANCESVILLE - Bertha L. Heltzel, 100, of Michigan (formerly of Monon) passed away on Aug. 8.
She was born Aug. 6, 1913 to the late Victor and Hazel Wilson. (Her father served as principal of the Monon Schools for years.) She married her grade school and high school sweetheart, Fred Heltzel. They were married for 49 years. He preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughter Mary Lou (Clayton) Herrst, grandson John (Michelle) Herrst and great-granddaughter Claire Herrst.
Mrs. Heltzel lived an active and independent life up until her death. She was an accomplished musician on piano, organ and xylophone. She played piano for the silent movies when she was in school, enjoyed being a wife and mother and dearly loved her grandson and great-granddaughter. She was thrilled to see Claire become a junior in high school and driving. She was truly a great lady with a fine mind. She has left a large hole in her family and will be truly missed.
Private burial will take place at Monon Cemetery, Monon.
Local arrangements have been entrusted to Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel, Francesville.
