Gerald P. Polstra
January 28, 1932 to July 27, 2013
WINAMAC - Gerald "Jerry" P. Polstra, 81, of Star City, died at 12:50 p.m., Saturday, July 27, at Pulaski Memorial Hospital, Winamac.
He was born Jan. 28, 1932, in Argos, to the late Clarence J. "Abie" and Roberta Gahagan Polstra. He married Betty Louise Button on Oct. 4, 1953, in Winamac. She survives.

Grandchildren include: Natalie Daily Federer, Sarah Daily, Tasha Daily (Jeff) Mitchell, Jess Daily, Josh (Jessica) Polstra, Steven (Katie) Polstra, Tarrah Polstra, Chad Polstra and Bobby (Tanya) Polstra.
Great-grand children include: Julian Polstra, Kale Federer and Tanner Federer.

Mr. Polstra attended Winamac Community High School and enlisted in the U.S. Army at the end of World War II. He was active in boarder patrols in Germany and Poland. Upon his return, he married and worked over the years in construction, then at the local Shell station. He retired from Plymouth Tube after 28 years of service. He also had been a member of Rotary Club and the Star City United Methodist Church.
Mr. Polstra loved his daily routine which consisted of coffee and dinner at the Oak Grove Restaurant almost every day. He liked working on anything around the house, mowing his lawn and playing solitaire. He enjoyed sharing stories about his work at Plymouth Tube and his military service to his children, grandchild and friends. He will be missed by many family and friends.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m., (Wednesday, July 31), at the funeral home with David Sommers officiating. Burial will be in McKinley Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Winamac. The VFW and the American Legion will conduct military graveside services.
Memorial donations may be given to the Diabetes Association or Pulaski Memorial Hospice.
