Howard L. Mitchell Jr.

December 20, 1972 to July 6, 2013

MEDARYVILLE - Howard Lance Mitchell Jr, 40, died Saturday, July 6, at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center, Myrtle Beach, S.C.

He was born Dec. 20, 1972 in Rensselaer, a son of Lottie Conley De Los Santos and the late Howard Lance Mitchell Sr.

He is survived by his mother and step-father Hector De Los Santos of Myrtle Beach; one sister, Ronda Suzzett Mitchell of Conway; two half-sisters, Miranda Mitchell Reyna (Hector) of Dallas TX, and Bobbie Jo Stalbaum (Butch) of Medaryville; four nephews, Eddie Gravitt, Levi Reyna, Derrick Stalbaum and Devon Stalbaum; three nieces, Stephanie Risner, Dakota Stalbaum and Darian Stalbaum.

In addition to his father, he was predeceased by one sister April Risner Richter and one nephew Matthew Risner.

Mr. Mitchell loved sports and was a well-known football player and wrestler in the Kenosha, Wis. area where he set many high school records while playing at Tremper High School. He received a football scholarship and played two years at Butler University before becoming disabled. He was employed at Sealy Components for many years.

A funeral service will be at  2 p.m.,  Wednesday (July 10), at Conway Church of God with Rev. Elmer Conley and Rev. Stuart Jacobs officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m., Saturday (July 13), at Independence Cemetery in Medaryville. The family will receive friends from 12 noon to 1:30 p.m., at Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel, Medaryville, prior to the graveside service.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: Tremper High School Athletic Department; 8560 26th Avenue, Kenosha WI 53143.
