Mary E. Schultz

November 4, 1932 to May 3, 2013

SUN CITY, CALIF. - Mary E. Schultz, 80, of Sun City, Calif., formerly of Pulaski County, passed away peacefully in her sleep Friday evening, May 3.

She was born was born on Nov. 4, 1932 in Rensselaer, the third child of Joseph and Myrtle Maienbrook. She married Chuck Schultz in 1951. He survives.

Also surviving are her daughters Kris Sheetz (husband George Grey) and Joleen Schultz (husband Dave Darnell) and son Chuck Schultz (wife Melinda Schultz), two granddaughters Heather Rudd and April Schultz and two great grandsons Ryker and Kayden Rudd. She is also survived by her younger brother, Joe Maienbrook, whom she helped to raise.

She was preceded in death by her older brother and sister, Bernie and Gene Maienbrook.

Mrs. Schultz spent her childhood and youth on a farm in Rensselaer. She was a cheerleader and developed a passion for dancing during her high school years. It was square dancing that brought Chuck and Mary together in 1949. After marriage and her husband's discharge from service in the U.S. Navy, the couple returned to Indiana in 1955 to set up their home in Francesville, and later Medaryville. In addition to being a wife and mother, Mrs. Schultz was active in the community and church. She later worked as the office manager for the local farm supply store, and then she managed the branch library in Medaryville.

From 1983-84, she served as the District Deputy for Eastern Star. Mary traveled throughout Indiana to the other 20 Districts. In the late 80s, she founded Mary’s Repeat Boutique. She and her husband enjoyed camping throughout their entire time together, first as a family and then as a retirement career delivering motor homes across the U.S. In 1999, they moved to Sun City, Calif., following two of their kids. She will be remembered as a loving mother, trusted friend, and devoted wife.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m., Saturday (May 11), at the United Methodist Church, Sun City, Calif.
