Mary Margaret Kestle Boyd
January 13, 1930 to April 5, 2013
CARMEL - Mary Margaret Kestle Boyd, 83, of Carmel (formerly of Winamac), died Friday, April 5 at her home in Naples, Fla.
She was born on Jan. 13, 1930 in Winamac, the daughter of Gerald C. and Cletha M. Lane Kestle.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Robert J. Boyd; son, John R. Boyd; daughter, Gracia A. Lane (Dean); grandchildren, Taylor Lane, Mollie Lane, Andrea Boyd and Christopher Boyd; great-grandchildren, Renee Boyd, Reagan Boyd and Aaliyah Moore and brother, Lee Kestle.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, James M. Kestle.
Mrs. Boyd received her undergraduate degree in education from Butler University and her master’s degree from Indiana University, Bloomington. She taught in the Indianapolis Public Schools for 12 years. She was the third-grade teacher at School 84.
Mrs. Boyd had a green thumb and was an avid gardener enjoying time in her flower garden. She experienced her greatest joy in life being a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Family and friends will gather at 10 a.m., Thursday (April 11), in Carmel United Methodist Church where the funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Tippecanoe Christian Church Cemetery, rural Winamac, at 3 p.m.
The family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be given to Carmel United Methodist Church, 621 S. Rangeline Road, Carmel, IN 46032.
