FRANCESVILLE - Arlene June Gutwein, 82, Medaryville, passed away at 3:15 a.m., Thursday, March 21, at her residence.

She was born Jan. 27, 1931, in Francesville, to Ernest E. and Sylvia Malchow Smith. She married Adam Jacob Gutwein on Nov. 26, 1950 in Francesville. He survives.

Also surviving are three sons Mitchell (Tammy) Gutwein, Lafayette, Dennis (Kitty) Gutwein, Medaryville, and Roger (Chelle) Gutwein, Cincinnati; 9 Grandchildren, 5 Great Grandchildren; three sisters Phyllis (Don) Anderson, Granbury, TX, Madeleine (Fred) Gutwein, and Diana (James) Culp, both of Francesville, one brother Ron Smith, West Lafayette, and a sister-in-law Clara Smith, Las Vegas.

She was preceded in death by one sister Paulina Smith and one brother Richard Smith.

Mrs. Gutwein was a member of the First Baptist Church in Francesville. She was active in the children and youth ministries of the church. She enjoyed serving others. She was devoted to her family. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m., Sunday, at the First Baptist Church, Francesville, and one hour prior to the services Monday at the church. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m.,  Monday (March 25), at the church, with Pastor Dennis Gutwein and Roger Cryan officiating.
Burial will take place in Roseland Cemetery, Francesville.

Memorial donations may be given to the American Cancer Fund or the First Baptist Church Youth Fund.
